Got myself PSO on BBA!

Hi, I just got myself PSO again and a BBA! I thought this was a good time to join the forum:)

I have a few questions though!
Can people with PSO v1 and v2 play together?
I only have to V1!

And secondly:
Ive tried the Sylverant server a couple of time!
I get in but there is no one here. Are there so few players that you
have so schedule a match to play?
When im on the sylverant frontpage then i can see that im online (if i go out of the server, then it says 0 is online, so apperntly its working)

Im online now if anyone would like to play a match:):)

I play the PSO V1 PAL version:)

V1 and V2 players can play together just fine. If a V2 player makes the team, then he/she must select to make the game compatible with V1. All teams created by V1 players are compatible with both versions of the game.

As for the number of players, it depends on the time of day, and what day of the week it is. There's not a huge number of people still playing PSO like there were in 2001, but there's still a few of us around. Hopefully you'll find some people to play with sometime soon!

You should also be aware that it's even harder to find people to play with on Ver.1, because it has less content than Ver.2 does. You can only reach level 100, you can't go past Very Hard mode, and you can't play Battle or Challenge modes. Most of the people who still play PSO do things that you can't do in Ver.1, so you may want to invest in a copy of Ver.2 at some point. USv2 is dirt cheap, for instance.

I don't know how you decide to play Scandinavian, but i for example only connect if there is someone online or if i need to do something online (like some testing), meaning if there isn't anyone or online and if i don't need to go online then i won't connect at all.

What i see is that once there is someone online, more will connect because they see activity and they know they will most likely play with someone else.
For example, i usually connect if i see someone in iselia or vega because i know there is a high chance i not only know that player but also because the game may be suitable for me (like a challenge mode game)

I recomend 2 things:
- Getting v2, not mandatory, but you might consider it on the long term, for now use v1 as most games are perfectly suitable for v1 players, you can later decide to keep v1 or move to v2
- Arrange a game by using this forum for example (there is a sticky i believe)

My first online match was with you guys! This game was amazing!
I have only played PSO a couple of times offline, many years ago.
a couple of days ago i decided to buy the game again with my BBA:)
Hope Im exused for playing bad a couple of times:P.. Still on the practising stage:)
I did not know there where any sticky for making matches:) I will use that one from now on:D
Will proberly be in the lobby everyday to check if someone wants to play anyway:)

But now I have a problem! I cant seem to log out from the server!
It says "Your guildcard is already online.)

Do I have to wait until the server resets itself or something before I can go online again:D?

BlueCrab's trying to find a bug in the shipgate at present, so maybe it's related to that? It can also happen if you get disconnected, but the server doesn't notice because you're lagging. In that instance, you need to wait about 2 minutes for the server to realize you're gone.

Its definitely related to that bug.

On a related note, I think I figured out why ships were disconnecting when Vega tries to reconnect. I believe that the TLS handshake with Vega was taking an inordinate amount of time, and thus the other ships were effectively pinging out before the TLS handshake finished with Vega. This also explains why commands don't work that involve the gate when Vega disappears (really its when it tries to reconnect that is the problem). It may be a bug in the version of GnuTLS that Vega is using (they're on an older version because the Cygwin package hadn't been updated yet when they set things up), since I can't see any reason that any of my code would cause it to happen directly. I've asked them to update their version of GnuTLS and their version of the ship_server, so hopefully this will all get worked out in the next couple of days.

So i have one more question:)

I'm getting v2 soon.

Are there anything i should du before I start the game?
can i use the standard Serial key without getting any trouble?
Should i backup my V1 files before starting (sd-card)?
Im Level 19 now after 3 days of playing so i would be sure before i start playing:)
