Re: Soldier of Fortune Dreamcast PAK file
TuxTheWise wrote at Xentax that he had some luck with WinRAR, but only managed to extract a few files.
I think your best bet would be a Soldier of Fortune fan community, a Raven Software fan community, or a community for one of Raven's other games.
I am sure there are people that have worked with SoF before and thus might be able to give you some clues as to how the Dreamcast version works.

There was an NFO from an earlier rip of this game, but it seems no one else has had any success with this.

And, I dobt you will receive much else help here, I am not sure if this topic will get locked? And there u have it another Good Release from SNooZE!!!
Special Thanks to Hyper Gamer letting me take over the rip ( since his
computer is pretty fucked up ), and letting me know what to do with the
files.pak . *hint - use Game Files Explorer , for those people wanting to
try messing with the game themselves*

Re: Soldier of Fortune Dreamcast PAK file
IIRC I've managed to open it years ago.
And by the way, that Megaupload link in the first post is quite illegal.

Re: Soldier of Fortune Dreamcast PAK file
Sorry about the uploaded file.
This PAK file is not a standard Soldier of Fortune or Quake II PAK.
It has a NPCK header, unlike the Quake II PACK header.
The reason I asked here is because I know that HyperG has opened this file,
and even if he's not active anymore, I was hoping someone here would know.

Re: Soldier of Fortune Dreamcast PAK file
Have you tried replacing the NPCK characters in the header with the PACK characters from a normal file?

Re: Soldier of Fortune Dreamcast PAK file
The PAK files should also be against the forums rules to link too, no?
Not that we couldn't change the rules, but they'd have to be put into place by the admin/mods...

"OVERRiDE" tried that when attempting to work on the game.Manoel wrote:Have you tried replacing the NPCK characters in the header with the PACK characters from a normal file?
It seems the SOF-DC FILES.PAK has a scrambled header? so the file system is not understood by normal pak extractors.
I managed to change the files.pak header in a hex-editor, that atleast was reckognized as a standard .pak file, but all files inside were curroupted this way...
