Dreamchess.

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Could someone else try saving and report their findings?

I'm not exactly sure how you save, but I don't see it after opening / closing DreamChess.

Different from what you're trying to figure out, I found a bug that's also in SVN r235.

It's easier to do a Human vs. Human agme so you can manipulate the other person's pieces.

The problem: A pawn is taken when it's not supposed to be.

Recreate the problem:

Move white pawn c2 -> c4
Move black pawn h7 -> h6 (really doesn't matter who you move)
Move white pawn c4 -> c5
Move black pawn d7 -> d5
Move white pawn c5 -> d6

The black pawn on space d5 will be taken.

This is not a bug. This is what's called an 'en-passent' move.

That's a first for me. I never heard of it. Thanks.

EDIT: Is that move only possible with another pawn?

It's en-passant, accoring to Google's hits.

He's moving to the space directly behind the black pawn, not performing 'en-passent' ;).

EDIT: Which is actually an illegal move, anyway :?.

Hmm? I don't follow. The gif shows an en-passant capture.

Oops, you're right :oops:.

I used to be on the school chess team, but I haven't played in about a decade so I slip up on the fiddly moves a lot :).

The project is moving along very slowly, but it's moving. We still desperately need a 2D graphics artist and a 3D modeller to join the team.

We're working towards the 0.1.0 release. Here are some new screenshots:

"Opposing elements", by Hawke:

And "Sketch". by MrSiggler (some people might recognize the art style...):
