My Infernape is level 68 and can barely get midway through the Elite 4 due to the 2nd trainer having ground pokemon. My 2nd and 3rd best are the level 50 legendaries I caught (which are relatively worthless against ground types) and a Gyarados which is level 34.
Blastoise has helped me in the past and he will again.
