After IGN's review comment...cube_b3 wrote:Edit: Oddly enough both reviews barely talk about the boss battles. I don't think Gamespot even mentioned them.
They were suppose to be an integral part of the gameplay and I was excited about them.

...there's really not more that needs said.
Like maybe put all the Sonic Unleashed day levels into the Sonic Generations engine?cube_b3 wrote:And maybe give us a few more stages, hell throw in a stage from Lost World while they are at it.

I commented on the Gamespot video a few days ago, basically saying that what worried me the most about the "video review" is that "platforms that break up" and "jumping over spiked balls" are probably two of the the biggest cliches in platform gaming, yet the reviewer really seemed to struggle getting past those obstacles?
Seemed to me like he was marking the game down because he wasn't very good at it..

Yes, that is very true for several game review.
A lot of it comes down on skill, if a developer/publisher is a powerful one reviewers give the game a lot of time and get good at it before they review it, with Sonic these days they pass judgement quickly. I was reading a review I don't remember where but they were criticizing the pakour system because it required you to build momentum and you can't automatically go to boost speed..... That has been the biggest criticism of Sonic Rush/Sonic 4 and critics were criticizing Lost World for having functional physics.

Really? I thought the biggest criticisms of Sonic Rush and Sonic 4 were that Rush had too many rails and giant pits of doom, and 4 felt stiff and slow with no real sense of momentum and absolutely no new ideas in terms of game design.cube_b3 wrote:That has been the biggest criticism of Sonic Rush/Sonic 4 and critics were criticizing Lost World for having functional physics.
...or maybe those were just MY biggest criticisms

Re: So, about this Sonic Lost Worlds game...
Ya'll have written enough to publish a damn thesis on Sega and its development process. But it's simple: Sonic Team is a poor/mediocre developer. They have been for almost 20 years. Sega is, at best, an average publisher with decent ideas but suffers from shoddy implementation.
That's all there is. There's no secret to Sega's failure. They managed to produce a hit (Genesis/Mega Drive) and spent the next 25 years digging their own grave. Many of us acted like a battered spouse and dealt with their BS for years, oblivious to their massive flaws as a company.

Re: So, about this Sonic Lost Worlds game...
Up until 2003 there games were critically acclaimed.
To date their games are commercially very successful.
Hence they are an above average developer today.
A Decade ago they were awesome.
20 Years ago they were unrivaled.
Sega on the other hand has been an average company for almost a decade.
In either case your 20 year claim is bull shit.
As Sega/Sonic Team were at the height of their popularity in 2001.

20 years ago, Sega was already up to wacky business proposals: Sega CD. The Genesis was outpacing the Super Nintendo at times, but the Genesis/Mega Drive sold 20 million fewer units than the Super Nintendo worldwide.cube_b3 wrote:Up until 2003 there games were critically acclaimed.

A decade ago, they axed their cult-favorite Dreamcast. They had some good/great titles.
