DivX 5 Pro is also available free if you don't mind adware. I reccommend it even though the adware gets annoying sometimes.
As for playing MP3 files, there are several players to choose from. To-eleven, DCDivX, DCPlaya... Try some of them and see what works best for you. Also, DreamSNES has a built-in MP3 player. I'm sure I forgot some players. If DCHomebrew were up I'd give you a whole list of things to try.

If you have a firewall with program control like ZoneAlarm or Mcafee Firewall, you can just deny their adware access to the net. It'll work like its offline.
If you have twenty monkeys,
banging randomly on typewriters,
they will in twenty minutes produce the complete source code to World of Warcraft.

Thanks OneThirty8!
I appreciate your response. While I assumed that was the case I just wanted to make sure I was on the same page.

Just quoted to agree.ArmV wrote:noooo say it aint so.Azra_Blackmoor wrote:ArmV I believe he said that the movie player is going on the back burner so he can work on the ports and onther releases
While Bero's upcoming ports DO look cool (egoboo in particular) DC Movie Player was the most promising thing to happen to the Dreamcast in years.
Please, bero, continue working on it! It's coming so well!

I too would of course prefer he work on DC Media Player, but his porting projects look excellent as well. He hasn't abandoned DCMP at any rate, so I'm content to wait.

nurning bero
yes dcmplay is the coolest thing to happen to dreamcast in years. damn i watched matrix reloaded on my dreamcast.. i just watched hulk.. i watched 2 fast 2 furious!!!!!!!!!
my dc can play more movies in better quality than my ps2! so many of my friends are grabbing out their dc's gain just cos of dcdivx and dcmplay!!
and these players already play most small divx releases of the s/vcd's (like the TMD centropy etc avi's).......
dcmplay could use some work...once its more stable (doesnt crash in the middle of a movie) and is timesynched LOTS OF MORE ppl will LOVE to use it to watch their favorite movies on their dreamcasts...... AND THE DREAMCAST WILL BE BACK maybe who knows
!!
but for sure 10,000s if not 100,000s of people will use their dreamcasts again and dig it out.....................how many ppl will use these ports? 1000?....... bero come on continue with dcmplay! we'll pay u.... everyone of us would pay u to have avi at home to watch divx movies on the tv....
we just need 1) timesynch 2) a little more stableness
you can do it, we count on you ;o)
a hip hip to dreamcasts #1 coder BERO !!!
