Yes, Christuserloeser is right. I used the Gimp as well, but the methods were different.

Chilly Willy used the color selection tool which selects all pixels within a certain tolerance of the pixel color you selected. That's why the edges are rougher on that picture since the antialiasing as well as compression artifacts caused some of the areas to fall in that tolerance.

I used a circular marquee. For that selection method, the program traces all pixels that fall on or near (depending on if antialiasing is enabled) the marquee. I also sharpened the image when I was done to reduce some of the blur.

GIMP has a single window interface now??

I got used to messing around with ShellEnhancer and HideThatWindow to make it easier to use.
