I'm going to get as much of those done as possble. There are just some things on there that probably won't make it, sadly. Very few of those things are vital features. I want to get this out before the year's end.Syd wrote:Awesome job man!
What games do you know of that don't run full speed/have compatibility issues? And if you can get all of that "not started" stuff done in under a month then I'll hail you as my new god.

It builds the CD with screenshots, codes, etc. Not sure if it'll burn the disc, but even if it doesn't you'd be able to make a Nero image yourself with one of the selfbooting tools out there.Orange_Ribbon wrote:Hey there Strapping. One question, what is the "CD builder. Initially for Windows, then for Linux and Mac." Is it an Image maker, or CD burner? Also I acidentally upgraded Nero and Alchole doesn't seem to like me to much, will I be able to burn this with the newer nero?

Scherzo, any comments on the 50/60 Hz compatibilty for PAL users?
PAL machines really can do both. Would be awesome to have proper 60Hz emulation for PAL too. Since the Atari 2600 we PAL users always had to live with the 50Hz speed loss on graphics and music.
That ended with the DC tho - for the first time ! Even a PAL PS2 still slows down the games while most PAL DC games have a 60Hz mode

Yup, like I posted on the first page, it would be cool to see an option for PAL users to have a 60Hz version run as well.
Maybe it's possible to let NesterDC SE check the rom and let it choose speed automatically depending on the rom. And add an option to force 50Hz for the few unlucky pal users with an old tv.
I think that would fix all the problems, right?

Sorry I didn't get a chance to answer some questions sooner. My internet is down (leeching some poor neighbor's wifi right now) and my wife and daughter just left for ecuador.
The CD builder downloads what I've been unofficially calling goodies. Those are the screenshots, cart scans, manuals, NSFs, and game genie codes. It scans your ROM collection and downloads only what you need. You can optionally choose which of the goodies you want, if any.
After the goodies are downloaded, it'll make a Nero or DiscJuggler image for you. So there's no need to use a separate selfboot tool. Then it tries to launch the image with whatever program you have associated with the image's file extension, either .nrg or .cdi.
I can pretty easily put in an option to let the user to force NTSC or PAL. I didn't know you wacky PAL guys now have TVs that can take NTSC.

SCART is older than that, actually.Darksaviour69 wrote:actually most t.v. here run 60hz, it happened when scart came in, early 90s, just old TVs can't run 60hz.
It should be noted though that not all TVs that have a SCART socket can handle 60Hz. Almost all SCART TVs can, but there's generally no way to be sure without actually trying a 60Hz signal.

im a bit curious. with all the extras that will available with each game, about how many different NES games will it be possible to put on a 700MB disk. I know the full rom set is like what 1024 or something like that? obviously that would not be able to fit which i dont have much of a problem with. But do you have an estimate of about how many NES roms could be put with all the "goodies"?
