Fighting Eleven/Perfect Eleven were slightly better than the European versions.

You're kidding right? What's the tradeoff? Are they rendered as PAL or something?
not much, just 10 frames a second less for the DC to render, as for 'rendered as PAL' most SNES games were localized pretty well and don't suffer from those 'bars' as much as you might think, also some (such as DK) were written to run on PAL systems first.

on a side note, NTSC is technically a horrible system, easily surpassed in colour quality and resolution by PAL (and nowadays PAL60), the 50htz/60htz speed thing is due to a trick of fate not by design, these speeds being directly related to the mains electricity speed back when TVs still had valves. 'Never Twice the Same Color' was chosen by the FCC over a better system designed by CBS because it was compatable with black and white sets (and cheaper) it was then adopted by Canada and Japan because Canada got most of its programming from the US and Japan was still under US control/influence this being in the late 40s, it has never been a 'better' system, thankfully (due to HDTV) it's almost dead.

thank you so much for this thread, and a couple things:

the dkc games and super metroid are not playable in my opinion, although they are close. the framerate is just too low.

the f-zero's played like trash on my system

everything else in this thread seems ok. it's so much better having a dreamsnes disc with only the 15 or so working games on it than having to weed through all 600 ^_^

and finally i have some additions to the lists
jurassic park 2 works perfectly
as does super off road

The DBZ and Kirby games run slow as hell.
Most of the other games I have tried worked though.

Hi,
I am just new around here, so hello to all.

I wonder if Dreamsnes runs games like Super Metroid in full speed at overclocked Dreamcasts. Gains the DC enough speed from overclocking?

Donkey Kong Country Games ALL run quite choppy.

Super Metroid = Choppy

Kirby Super Star = Very Choppy.

Those are the only corrections that come to mind

NTSC is horrible, but it's far from "almost dead." HDTV adoption has been going quite slowly and most tv channels are still broadcast and transmitted in NTSC (in NA). Even when the digital switchover happens, most TV sets will be NTSC. Most console owners will still be hooking their stuff to a NTSC set, and get NTSC visuals.

Unless by "almost" you mean 10-15 years from now which is 6-10% of how long it's been active. So no, though it would be nice for it to be almost dead, I don't think we can say that just yet.

All of the Mighty Morphine Power Ranger Games (Not Super Sentai).
Mikozero NTSC means National Television System(s) Committee not never the same color (this is a homebrew game for DC).

'Never Twice the Same Color' is a jokey name for the system used by television engineers because of the systems shortcomings.
