Not every has the luxury of DVD's and SVCD is great for homemade movies. I'd personally love to see a play that lets you just swap in the CD and play.bero wrote:few years ago, I made VCD/SVCD player.
it can play VCD/SVCD directory without rip & re-burn such as Gypplay.
it is high quality movie than sold player. http://www.dcemulation.org/pay-dcvcd.htm
it can play SVCD but slow.

but HD crashed. all source gone.
now, I can make more powerful version, but I think it is no needs because most ppl use DVD rather than VCD.
Is it even possible to get a SVCD player for the DC that'll run at a decent framerate? My DVD player won't play SVCD's, but will play VCD's, so whenever I want to watch an SVCD, I have to watch it on my computer. I'd really like to see a working (at a good speed) SVCD player for the Dreamcast. Has there been one before that could run at a decent framerate?

You can try this trick to play SVCDs on your DVD player, http://www.geocities.com/newestmoviesencode/dvdvcdSir Auros wrote:Is it even possible to get a SVCD player for the DC that'll run at a decent framerate? I would also love to see a VCD/SVCD player for DC since my DVD player is hookedup to the TV in the living room I can never get in there to watch anything, and my DC is hooked-up in my room so it would be a huge convience.

Yeah, Bero. It'd be a great app. I would love to see how it would run, and a swappable VCD player could make life easier, for playing VCD's elsewhere then where a DVD player is.
Hope ya decide to do it.

I'm one of this people... my only dvd player is my ps2, and it won't play vcd or svcd. i'd love something to play them on dc.ShadowofBob wrote:Not every has the luxury of DVD's and SVCD is great for homemade movies. And, i'd love to see bero's work to be inserted in dcplaya's great GUI.
That would just rock too much.
PS Bero i don't want to give offence by suggesting a subordination of you work to other people's one (those of dcplaya I.E.), it is just a wish. Hope to have explained it well, after all my english is not so good.

Who cares about SVCD.... we just need a decent VCD player. I have a DVD player, and a standalone VCD player, but my DVD player don't play CDRs (except a few select ones) and my Standalone player plays CDRs but locks up when I fast forward or go back... even pauseing it lock up. My only hope is a decent DC one with Playback control.
Bero, we already worship you, so if you can find the time, we would all be eternally grateful..... especially me... *begins to stalk Bero*![Surprised :o](./images/smilies/icon_eek.gif)

this is inital experimental version.
http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown/200 ... /dcvcd.zip
I couldn't found latest version.
it is based on GPL'd code, http://libmpeg2.sourceforge.net/
but no source code.
so it is ILLEGAL release.
