Sega CD Emulator
I have a particular question... In regards to emulation on the Dreamcast, does there exist a Sega CD emulator? I mean, surely the Dreamcast can support discs from previous Sega Systems, can it? Is there anyone able to answer my question?

Re: Sega CD Emulator
There is no SCD emulator for Dreamcast (yet).
The Genesis + Sega CD combo is a powerful beast, so it won't be easy, although not impossible: We got Fox68k's FAME + FAZE and BlackAura's PVR renderer. Plus many games don't actually use the SCD's hardware at all, so there probably are some 'tricks' that could be used, like underclocking the Mega Drive's Z80 + Sega CD's M68000, etc. pp.
- I think that BlackAura and Fox68k both agree in that it is possible to emulate the SCD on Dreamcast, and I think that once Genesis emulation has been improved, they might start looking into it.

Re: Sega CD Emulator
Yeah, it can read the discs with no problem. The problem is just one of emulating the hardware - there's an extra 68k running at 12MHz (the one in the Mega Drive runs at 8MHz), more RAM, another sound chip, and graphics coprocessor, in addition to the CD drive itself, and all the hardware that connects the two systems together.
