Presumably Eagle vs. Shark.

As long as we're posting scenes with more talking than actual fighting:

(pretty amazing quality for YouTube; not sure what magic was worked to make that happen)

We recommend the following settings:

* MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format
* 640x480
* MP3 audio
* 30 frames per second

Resizing your video to these specifications before uploading will help your videos look better on YouTube.

Last I checked was a few days ago and it said 320x240. They've now changed it to 640x480 tho.

Yeah, I believe the movies are now being encoded with H.264. Takes up more CPU power, but gives better quality.

From the comments on that clip from the Princess Bride..
Classic movie. still holds its own even by todays standards.

Man that annoys me. As if there's this vast gulf in quality and standards between today and 1987. :roll:

Okay the ending was awesome, but the rest of it was a yawn-fest.

I know they aren't technically 'fight scenes', but I really enjoyed most of the scenes in Shoot 'em Up...

Although the fight scenes in Princess Bride are great, the greatest fight scene of all time has to be this one:

Ummm. Yes, there is a rather large gap between the quality of entertainment from 87 and today. Look at the original Battlestar Galactica.

Not only that, but for most of us that were actually children when Princess Bride came out, our tastes have obviously changed quite a bit in 20 years. If you were to watch any of the things you thought were "awesome" when you were 5-10 years old today, you'd think most of them were absolute crap.

And I could just as easily say, "Look at 'I Love New York'!".

You can't just point at one show and say "Look how bad things were back then!". There are great works being produced in every decade, and complete crap.

TV shows and movies have bigger budgets and better effects work, and that's really where "improvements" end. I might also point to the fact that TV shows today have a full 6 minutes more commercials than shows back in the 80s did. Regardless, I don't see how they're actually any better in important terms. Like, for example, quality of dialogue, shooting, acting, editing, storyline, action, stuff like that. Particularly not when we're talking about movies as recent as the 80s, which stylistically aren't really even that different from modern films.

Posting the ending to a film without a spoiler warning, cheers SuperMegatron, now I don't have to bother watching that film I was quite looking forward to now...
:headbash:

The actual best one was posted by lackofsense though. Amazing movie.

I didn't embed it. I gave the link and on Youtube where it is described. A forum user could decide to watch it or not. Someone else posted the video directly. So this time I am in the clear.
