xbox 360 arcade, what is in it?

I was looking at xbox 360s today because I want to buy one. The xbox 360 arcade is only 249. That sounded good to me, but I was looking at the features, and I dont see a HD. Not even like an 8 gig HD. Does the arcade system not come with an HD? If not, how would I go about saving games if I were to buy it? Where do the mem cards go? If they even have mem card options, how many save games would I be able to fit on a mem stick? Should I just shell out the extra 50 bucks and buy a system with a small HD? What, besides game saves, are the advantages of having the xbox elite, vs the pro, vs the arcade versions? I dont go on LIVE oranything so I just dont see the necessity of an HD yet? What am I missing?

Holy shit, I don't think I've ever seen so many questions crammed into one post before.

I bought one for my brother. Basically it's a core system, but comes with a disc with arcade games on it. It comes with a 256mb memory card, which is more than enough to save your game for quite a few games. You won't be able to play original Xbox games though, as they require a hard drive. I recommend you go with a pro, as you'll most likely wish you had a hard drive at some point. If you don't plan on going on Live, the Elite may be overkill, so I don't suggest getting an Elite unless you just want the HDMI support. You'll find that many games have free expansions and crap that require a hard drive, or at least more space than a measly 256mb, so a hard drive is always recommended.

And the memory card plugs into the front of the system. There's two slots for them.

Pretty much if you want to do anything online, play original Xbox games, or do updates of any kind to any of your games, you'll need a hard drive. Don't get the Arcade.

Do you think it is worth it if my buddy has an old 20 GB HD laying around? Cant I just stick any xbox 360 HD in there?

Yea any xbox 360 HD should work.

Just to correct Luriden's post a bit; the Pro console now includes HDMI as well. The only thing the Elite really has is a much larger hard drive.

Pro doesnt come with HDMI cable, I believe the Elite does.

All of them have an HDMI port. Only the Elite have a cable.
