MAME Dreamcast help...important question

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

MAME Dreamcast help...important question

Post by manrae »

Hello people, I'm sort of new to DC emulation of other systems, and I've once succeeded in getting Nester to work for my Dreamcast...cool, but I lost the discs...ok

But I'm also hearing that MAME can be played on Dreamcast...cool

My question is, can any of the MAME emulators for the dreamcast play games such as Knights of the Round Table, Street Fighter 2, Knights of Valour, Final Fight 3, etc etc

I seem to see lists of compatible games that have older type of games, but the lists are also old...help please :|

MAME4All is pretty good but doesn't run the late nineties games:
http://www.dreamcast-scene.com/index.php/Main/MAME4All

Knights of the Round - Yes. Knights of Valour - No idea. Does this have an alternate title ? Street Fighter 2 - Yes. Final Fight 3 never was released in the arcades but the original Final Fight runs pretty good. You can play Final Fight 3 via DreamSNES - it runs at a very good speed with little frameskipping if you set it up right. However, to play Final Fight on Dreamcast, I would definitely recommend this freeware package:

http://www.dcevolution.net/cgi-bin/down ... e=FFLR.rar

- A remake of Final Fight (1-)3 is included :)

What about neo-geo type games? Also, is there a certain something I should look for to check whether or not certain arcade games will or won't work with Mame4all...like if I want to check about a game that may not be on the list of confirmed working games

And where can I find a tutorial for newbies with mame4all?

I think you can find the answers to many of your questions here: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=95620&p=985258&hil ... ll#p985258

- For NeoGeo I would recommend the exzellent Neo4All emulator: http://www.dreamcast-scene.com/index.ph ... Neo4All-CD

http://chui.dcemu.co.uk/mame4all.html#Downloads

- Which link at DCS didn't work, there are like dozens and I couldn't find one that doesn't work.

The thread I've linked to in my previous post provides a link to a BootDreams tutorial and explains that you will need to convert your ROM set with Clr Mame Pro prior to burning.

You have to paste the link when you on his page. You can paste the link from this or any other site. It's a leeching script.

Damn, I forgot about the guide I promised to write. >_<

- For now I would recommend to download SBInducer:
http://dchelp.net/sbi/files//Sbindv4_cdi4dc_3.rar

and this SBI:
http://dchelp.net/sbi/files/Emus/MAME4A ... -12-21.sbi

Install SBInducer to C:/SBInducr/ and put the SBI in C:/SBInducr/SBI/. Start the program and click on MAME4ALL in the right window. Choose "Single Menu" and then "Extract SBI". Everything will be extracted to C:/SBInducr/Inducer/. Using Windows Explorer you copy your ROMs to C:/SBInducr/Inducer/ROMs/. Don't forget to convert them to MAME v35 with Clr Mame Pro and the included .dat file prior burning.
