About a month ago, my PC began freezing randomly during use, and during boot-up. Then, it would not boot at all. (Black screen, no keyboard lights, etc.) I tried taking parts out and replacing them. When I took the Video card out (XFX 6600GT), the keyboard lights would turn on, so I figured the video card was the problem. I picked up a new one (PNY 7600GT) and put it in the PC... It seemed to boot fine at first.. But then It would freeze randomly just like with the old card.
Everything else in the PC seems fine. This problem is pissing me off...
Specs: 500w PSU
P4 3.0Ghz
2gb DDR400 ram
GF 7600GT
160gb hdd
Any ideas?
Very odd PC problem...

Re: Very odd PC problem...
Sounds like a power problem, which could be in the PSU (obviously) or on the motherboard (dead regulator, leaking capacitors, etc.).

Re: Very odd PC problem...
Could be the PSU but it could also be the motherboard, what type of motherboard is it? Are their LED codes or 7-Segment Display lights on the motherboard when you try to turn it on?

It's an Asus.
There is a green LED that is always on. It gives me no beeps.
I guess I can try another PSU?

Look for leaked capacitors on the motherboard
see there for informations :

If you've got some bad capacitors, you'll need to have them replaced or to change the motherboard.

Re: Very odd PC problem...
I really think the problem is a PSU problem
I had the same problem with a pc pretty similar to yours, it was reseting randomly and freezing:
500w PSU
P4 3.8
4gig ram
EAX800XL video card
Some months later my psu exploded and took fire !
I extinguished it and replace the power supply for a 600watts one and it's now working pretty damn well, even with a newer video card that required more power(X1950XT).
I hope it been of help !
