Christmas in October
So, now that it's before Halloween, I keep seeing Christmas decorations and merchandise at stores. I've seen the shit in the local sam's club, dollar general, fred's, walmart, even sears. And to top it all off, today I received a christmas card. Not from an individual of course, but from a company.
What the fuck, people? Seriously, what the fuck?

Most of that shit is sold before Christmas even arrives. Also it helps tame things at least a little since the early birds won't have much to get at the last minute, unlike 80% of the rest of the people.

Exactly. The sooner they get people in the holiday spirit, the sooner they can start making money from early Christmas presents.Caboose wrote:Most of that shit is sold before Christmas even arrives. Re: Christmas in October
At work all of our christmas stock went out last week and we put our stuff out much later than the bigger stores and your kmart's and such. It probably helps that we don't really celebrate halloween so we don't have to worry about that, the next major event really is christmas.
I do have a feeling our easter stuff will be out by January though.

Ah, holidays... gotta love the spirit of commercialism and materialistic yearning.

Re: Christmas in October
Walgreens has had Christmas decorations since August. So has K-Mart. It's the same thing every year, so I'm hardly surprised by it anymore.

Over here it's been like this since I can think. It usually starts in August...

Re: Christmas in October
At least its getting cold here so I can at least reason the Christmas decorations, this morning it was 33 out and I was freezing. But that afternoon it was back in the 60s and I was wearing my t-shirt again.
