So I'm a dork, and heard about this mainly because it got written up on Penny-Arcade.
But wow. Just wow.

One either likes the Tales style or hates it. I personally liked the style of the one that was out for the Gameube. One os the PS2 ones (don't remember which) wasn't to shabby either.melancholy wrote:Wow...
It's just too bad it appears to have the 'Tales of' combat style. I could never get into any Tales games due to the combat.
However, from what little I have read, this appears to be more along the lines of an action RPG (looks like you play only one character at a time??), so it may not be quite as much "tales" style as we think.
It will be interesting to keep an eye on. Assuming it is what it appears to be, it's one of the reasons for keeping a PS2 around (niche genre). One of my concerns always has been will we see games like this in the 360/PS3/Wii era? Probably not on the 360, and it will be difficult for companies to justify a localization if the PS3 does poorly outside of Japan. Maybe the Wii is a viable platform for these kinds of games...they don't exactly require a ton of horse power.

Simple. There isn't such a policy. There are many 2D games on PS1 and PS2, certainly more than any other home console in recent history (excluding retro download services). Regardless of whether there were policies in the past, they didn't last very long, and there is no need to stick a sly Sony dig in about it now.BlackAura wrote:I wonder how they got this past Sony's "no 2D games ever" policy.

Here is an interview with the localization team. It also includes a gameplay video and a number of screenshots:

Really? Looks clunky and slow to me. I'm willing to give it some slack at this point, but really..BoneyCork wrote:The gameplay looks awesome to me
