question about ad-aware
does ad-aware remove html files... more specificly the html files generated by aim 6.0 conversation logging

AdAware never buggered with my GAIM or Trillian logs, though I haven't had a PC in over a year...so that was all old versions of everything.
Honestly--if you have Firefox set up with Adblock, and you have decent browsing habits (read: steer clear of gambling, porn, and warez sites), I very seriously doubt that malware will be a problem. I've never had a malware problem in the 10 years I owned an Internet-connected Windows PC. My family did with their computer, but my brother is a porn hound and my dad likes online poker, and none of them is particularly computer-savvy. (Think people who might fall for those "Warning! Your computer may be unprotected!" windows).
And if you're using Linux, OSX, or anything else non-Windows, chances are you're okay anyway. The vast majority of malware is written for Windows, and won't even run on your system.
