Supposedly it was released today (March 15th). But the only site that sells it (or pre-orders it anyway) is in German.
So, does anybody have any more information on the status of this? And or another place to buy it?

I don't think Feuer Frei is a proper 2D scrolling shooter like people are assuming. From the one in-game screenshot, it looks like a sort of versus multiplayer arena thing. Quite a bit like dRxLax, in fact, though not nearly as nice looking I wouldn't say. Of course, I haven't played it; it may be amazing.
I'll probably buy it later this Spring or Summer, but first I'd like to see some comments form people who've played it or a video or at least more than just the one screenshot.
