2d fighter lovers should check this game out...

This is a forum for discussing the feasibility of getting emulators, games, or other applications that have had their source released ported to the Dreamcast. Please read the Porting FAQ before starting a topic in this forum!

2d fighter lovers should check this game out...

Post by andizzlemassizzle »

If you like 2d fighters, you will probably like Super Cosplay War Ultra!!! There are plenty of characters, 3 modes of play (battle royale mode is awesome) bosses that could possibly trump the difficulty of any fighting game EVER, and 5 or six unlockable characters. If a port to DC were possible, could someone let me know? (only after you play the game of course!) Later... :D

I think the source code isn't available. But anyway, there are plenty of commercial 2D fighters for DC, and with NeoGeo emulation, there's no need for more on this genre.

As long as there are fans, the genre will ALWAYS stay alive.

The game does look pretty nice. I'll play it later tonight and see if it's any good.

I didn't say it was dead. All I'm saying is that Dreamcast has enough 2D fighters - SSFIIX, SFA3, SFIII DI & 3S, JoJo, KOF 98-2002, MOTW, GGX, Last Blade 2, plus most of the NeoGeo lineup (RBS CD works great!)

I'd prefer that the homebrew/porting efforts were focused on other genres other than 2D fighting... And shooters, as we have plenty of those as well.

Yo, there can never be enough good 2d fighters and shooters for my tastes... If I had to give up all videogame genres except one, it would be a close race between those two... :(

I think this game was made with a program called "fighter maker" and thus would be completely impossible to port to DC

I've been a fan of 2d fighters since the neo-geo days, and still play a lot of them through emulation.

Bottom line: imo, snk made some of the best 2d fighters.

Is there a code that you can use to Create a 2D Fighter for the Dreamcast? Reason why I asked because I'm interested in making a 2D Fighting game and I also want to make a Team that is willing to work on this project.

While I do still fancy many a 3d fighting game, I've always prefered the 2d ones. Dunno why.

I used that engine before back in the Late 90's. It's not as good as Mugen or a BOR engine...... :(

OpenBoR should have at least 90% of what's needed for a really good 2D vs fighter engine:

With Samurai-X and utunnels we got two extremely talented coders still working on enhancing the engine. Join the http://www.LavaLit.com forums and let the community know about your project and I am sure you'll get the support you need.

I probably played the same thing as you, but it seems they've heavily improved it. Haven't tried it though.
