Do you realize

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

That the Dreamcast, software-wise, sort of outlasted both Xbox and Gamecube?

Twilight Princess comes out on 12/13 (US), Fuel comes out 02/06, and Trigger Heart comes out 02/22. I'm not sure if the goat store has anything else coming out, but the dreamcast, in a way, lasted the longest.

Yup. I wonder a few things though: 1) if it would have lasted this long without attaining this whole "indie scene" cult classic status 2) what this really means for companies still trying to produce games for DC, XBOX, and GC. How would a game do nowadays if it were released cross platform in america for both DC and GC?

With Last Hope in January and Karous/Crows in March there are even more releases coming 2007 :)

GOAT Store will be publishing about 12 new games in 2007/2008. Dan posted some info here.

A while back I did try to list all games that are or were planned for a commercial release at the DCS Wiki:

Gamecube and Xbox have both been pretty barren affairs for the last six months or so. However, there is a slow trickle.

Microsoft discontinued 1st part support of the Xbox nearly a year ago, though there are still some 3rd party releases.

Twilight Princess is likely to be the last first-party release for GameCube (I'd imagine they'll bump Super Paper Mario to Wii). There is still a slow trickle of licensed games, though...most notably Lego Star Wars 2, and the 'Cube version of Tomb Raider is due out in a month or so.

No way. Gamecube isn't Nintendo's last console, there was very little homebrew for it, and you needed a modchip or other hardware to play homebrew stuff.
It's thinking...

Not to mention that you can play GC games on the Wii, but you can't play DC games in any other console.

PS:

Just for those who missed it: there are new NAOMI games out for location tests: Jingi Storm (an Atomiswave port) and ...Dynamite Deka EX by SEGA :!:
which is quite a surprise as Dynamite Deka Ex is the 3rd part of Dynamite Deka aka Dynamite Cop / Die Hard Arcade.
