Anybody have an Xbox DVD Drive?

Post by melancholy »

I have to replace out a DVD drive for a guy that had his die on him. I know that periodically I see people selling drives, and the last time I did a repair on a person's DVD drive, a week later someone just gave away a drive on here. So I thought I would make a topic asking before I went out and bought one.

Does the Thomson work? Because that's pretty much what I'm going to end up buying off of Ebay. He told me he wants the absolute cheapest solution possible, and will not back down on that. But hey, it's his Xbox, not mine.

On this topic, which XBOX compatible DVD drive can read CDRs, if any? I would love to watch some of my backed up DivX movies on my XBOX without having to stream them from my PC's drive via Windows share all the time.

My xbox has a Samsung drive, it used to read CDr, CDrw, DVDr, DVDrw, the whole range. Until it broke, 3 months after I bought the machine.... Luckily i can stream my video from my PC via samba. :D
