I found money

Post by CupNoodle »

About an hour before it was time to close up shop, I found a $50 bill just sitting in the middle of an aisle. I picked it up and put it behind the register and asked everyone in the store if they had lost any money.

Everyone said they hadn't so I'm going to keep it in a safe place for two days and if no one comes in asking for it then I'm going to keep it.

I find money at work all the time, but there's a policy: if money is found, it goes back into the store. :? Basically it just goes into the registers :x

I'd just keep it and not tell anyone; if possible of course. :|

Oh I could do that easily. But I like to offer the person who lost the money a chance to get it back. That could have been part of some broke ass guy's car payment for all I know.

Thats why I carry very little cash. I hardly ever have more then $20 at a time on me. However I purchase most everything with debit card.

Personally if I come across some unclaimed money i.e. found or whatever, I usually buy my gf something with it or depending on the amount donate to charity. It's up to you i guess.

u should never carry more money than u can afford to loose, bottom line. Someone left over a thousand dollars in cash and two credit cards in an envelope months ago. I wanted to keep it so bad but did the "right ting" espically since there were lotz of cameras on me.

but what really pissed me off is that my mangers would let the customer give me a 50 dollar reward for getting it back to her. they said "well you can donate it to the store". i was like WTF.

Id hold on to it personally (on my person), not ask anyone if they lost it, but if someone brings up that they did (customer or employee) id give it back, and hopefully they'd treat me to a drink.

Hiding it in the store.. well.. i wouldnt be suprised if its gone mysteriously.

You were smart to ask around if it belonged to anyone there, it could have been a set-up.

It's the oldest trick in the book, too root out dishonest employees.

I actually have it in an envelope in my car right now. One more day and it's mine.

I found $200 at work and didn't keep it just for that reason.

This past weekend, I was suprised that a whole thing of pennies that I had lying in my room for years amounted to $50 when I took them to bank.

I found a dollar yesterday. I didn't bother trying to find the owner.
