Don't get a barcode unless you want to feel like you were left in the stone ages when they all go away. Barcodes should be replaced with RFID in 20 years or so, and your grandkids won't even know what they are.

I've often thought that if I didn't feel like I had to be professional, I'd have a lot of tattoos. It just seems like something I'd do - I've always drawn a lot and been into art and stuff, so it could be cool.

Tentatively, I want to get portraits of my dead grandfathers on each shoulder a decade after their death - so March of 2010 and September of 2011. We'll see where I am then.

I've always wanted to tell a little story, with a half sleeve above my elbow on my right arm going up to my should and my back a bit, about both sides of my family. Like the origins of my mother's maiden name and my family name, with a bit of the strange history we have.

Thanks! I was watching Snakes on a Plane the other day, and I noticed the witness/surfer dude had a tattoo in that spot, and I thought "wow, that looks really sharp!". Then I was thinking, "wouldn't it be cool to get a barcode (possibly even a working barcode) tattooed on my body?"

Then I put the two of them together.

make it for something you buy often, like milk or beer. this way when you go to the grocery store you can tell the lady to just scan your neck.

Get a QR-code instead. They're 2-dimensional and can hold whole pieces of text as well as numbers. Plus Japanese cell phones can scan them through their cameras (maybe some western ones now too?). Might be pretty difficult to tattoo a working one though...

Scan that and itll link you to DCEmulation :D

After a while (sevral years), the tatoo will probably start to blur a little bit around the edges so it won't scan as easily, maybe not at all.

That's exactly what I was thinking :D

I could also just turn my name into a barcode, replacing letters with numbers.

Faith is an absolute belief in something that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. It is most often relied upon to make enormous, often life-changing decisions, which are, by their very nature, ill-informed.

I don't think that could ever be considered a desirable characteristic for a person to have.

Regardless, ace, as long as you're happy with your new tatoo, who gives a toss what I think, eh? :)
