29 processes right now, which includes:

- firefox
- MSN
- winamp
- bittorent client
- speedfan
- taskmanager

so if i did a clean boot with none of my startup stuff, id be very close to 20

I thought I might have a problem. I run an updated avast and zone alarm. I also run spybot from time to time so I don't know how something would sneak in.

Anyway do you guys see a problem with this? The process list is right at bootup with an internet connection present. The CPU usage is with Photoshop and adobe update opened.

Judd - Just a quick look over and Im no expert but there doesnt seem to be too much trouble there. Youve got 5 ash* processes which are all Avast, 4 eh* processes which are all Windows Media Centre. So thats already 9 processes quite a few people on here wont have.

I dont know why you have so many svchost.exe running at boot up though? I have about that many when Im using my comp fully, but not at boot up.

43 atm. But this is a laptop, so at least 5 of those are agents for special cat pad functions, power monitoring, etc.

I just got some strange results

On boot I had 60 processes running
When I loaded up my usual everyday programs I had 70
When I closed everything down I actually had 55 which is less than on boot

I would have thought that on boot that there would be less processes running.
