Wiimcast

Post by Juan »

'Shadow' from GamersMark Forums wrote:This whole revolution, the wand, and everything i know its crazy. But, is it possible that it wasnt entirely nintendo's idea. I mean hear me out.. i was reading up on nights looking for any news on a sequal, and i ran into an article that shows some pictures of the Dreamcast Wand. which was a wii like controller fitted with tilt sensing technology and an IR light gun tip. The device was to be used for both light gun games, and at the time the dreamcast versions of monkey ball, and NiGHTS 2 dubbed air NiGHTS... Kind of interesting...

It's AeroNights, not air nights. And it was for the Saturn but quickly canned without any work done to my knowledge. That looks more like a mock up than anything. Too bulky and fisher price like.

It can easily be cropped to fit within the guidelines though. And besides, I'm sure are many where an exception seems fine. But then why have the rules if people are gonna be allowed to have whatever? ;)

I don't mean to sound like a prick and I'm definately not trying to come off as a mod/admin here as it did make me smile, but where do you draw the line as to what sigs are allowed and what sigs aren't?

Only 'sup' cat sigs should be allowed. Let's add that to the rules.

Seriously, you're right, it could be cropped to fit with the guidelines...

That dc wand thing may look real but it also looks like it would be too complicated to use..

I thought this thread was going to be about emulating dc games on the wii using the wiimote.

Like APE said, while the sequel to NiGHTS was supposedly going to use some sort of gyroscopic motion sensing controller, the game was intended for the Saturn. I've never heard of it being planned for the Dreamcast. And certainly not with that controller, which as far as I know wasn't suposed to have any motion/position sensors in it; it was just a prototype design for the basic Dreamcast controller (not that it ever really stood any chance of becoming the DC's controller, I don't think, it was just some back room design hijinx). Also, Monkey Ball was nowhere near conception at the time that controller was designed.

Dreams of finally seeing that NiGHTS sequel on the Wii have been a steady thee ever since the controller was revealed, though.

Actually, that info has been out for some time. It is actually a prototype for the dreamcast controller, along with all the other concept designs shown in the first picture.

Check out this site for video showing pix of the Dreamcast Prototypes:

Well, the picture has been around for some time, but the info is new on me and false as far as I know. The controller pictured was a real prototype, but I've never heard that it was supposed to have motion sensors in it or that the NiGHTS sequel was being planned for the Dreamcast. Actually, I've seen many people saying that NiGHTS would come to the Dreamcast, but it was always fanboy fantasies as far as I know, just like all the talk about NiGHTS on the Wii.

Just for fun did not feel like quoting him so used his signature instead... (that's about as logical as I can go)
