Last Hope anyone?
Well, it's very likely that this has been discussed before, but I didn't read about it. So, I was wondering if anything here knew anything about the upcoming game, Last Hope?
For those of you who don't know, Last Hope is a new game being made for Neo Geo (AES), Neo Geo CD, and our beloved Dreamcast.
The Neo Geo (AES) release is set for July 10th, 2006 at 550 EU, (like $692), and only 60 copies are being made.
The Neo Geo CD release is set for the fall (quarter 3) and the Dreamcast release is set for winter (quarter 4).
So, does anyone have anything they want to say about this game? I know I'll be buying the Dreamcast version .
More information on the game can be found here: http://www.ngdevteam.com/buy.htm

It would be nice if they had a playable demo for those willing to preorder...it just makes good business sense. If anything, I will pick up the Dreamcast version. However, there are still a few imports that I need to pick up before this one...Under Defeat, Radilgy, etc.

It would be nice for collection purposes, but I'm not that much of a shooter fan. If I'd buy a shooter I think I'd spend the money on Ikaruga or Border Down first.

That'd be lame and prolly cost them potential sales (unless they get permission to use the code from the authors or something).

That was actually an idea I had a couple years back, arguing for a GBA emulator for DC. Before GPF ported one, there was a lot of debate over whether there should be a GBA emulator for DC. I argued Yes, on the grounds that it could bring the two (both very large, at the time) indy development scenes together...and furthermore, it would give GBA authors a way of showcasing (and even releasing) their games on other platforms without having to learn to code for an entirely new system.
Nothing really came of it all, though. The GBA emu is highly unfinished, and by the time it was visible, GBA coding was already falling off in favor of DS and PSP...and the Dreamcast scene had pretty much settled into its current "small but faithful" groove.

I don't really see what's so funny about this ? Neo4All runs full speed with full sound. Next release(s) (of FAZE) will make it go commercial quality....
A real problem for using Neo4All is the NeoGeo CD BIOS. You can't distribute it with the game - you'd need a special permission to do so.
However: I'd be happy with one of the both, but of course I'd prefer a real native Dreamcast version.

Well, the AES version cost is outrageous. It was the version that I wanted to buy. I don't have a NeoCD, so I'd go after the DC version. It looks like its from the same folks who made Pulstar, which is pretty cool.
However, that means that it would be running in a lower fixed resolution, than a native Dreamcast game like Under Defeat or Ikaruga. Games like Gunbird 2 or Mark of the Wolves look a little pixelated running on DC hardware.
But if the game is fun, I'll support it. Homebrew developers rock.
