R.I.P. Dreamcast, you will be missed.
Today, May 3rd, 2006, marks the official death of my Sega Dreamcast. Whenever the power button is pressed, the machine only stays on for a second or two, before automatically turning off.
My Dreamcast and I have shared many good times together, but I am taking its demise as a sign that God now wants me to get a life, and discover what lies beyond my front door.
Goodbye Dreamcast, it was fun while it lasted.

Well, it's interesting really. Whenever I turn on my Dreamcast without a disc in it, it boots to the main menu and everything works fine. Then when I put a disc in and try to run it, I get the "Please insert game disc" message.Stormwatch wrote:Sounds like a power source problem. That can be fixed.
It's only turns itself off when I try to turn it on when there's a disc in it. Since it starts up when theres no disc in it, I don't think it's a power supply problem.
Crazy Caboose: I checked and the fan is spinning fine.
Any ideas as to what's wrong?

It's a power issue. I'm not sure, but you can try bending the PSU pins to help fix it. There are others that have had the same problem, I think they could help more.TyBO wrote:Well, it's interesting really. i had a similar porblem ... but it also turned off (in my case it didn?t turned completly off , it rebooted ) when i tried to read discs . In my case it was the PSU which was broken, after I had success booting one game and played it for an hour the PSU got completly broken ...
but in your case it could also be the laser, people told me that the DC reboots when the laser has problems to read the disc on start up ....
