Peter Moore talks about upcoming E3...

Post by Nyarlathotep »

...like a fucking moron.

There is no Playstation 3!

Whether it's Halo, Fable or Project Gotham or Xbox Live we brought innovations that changed the world.
Dictionary definition of 'innovation' for Mr Moore, stat.
Nintendo? Microsoft is not convinced by the controller's claims to innovation of the year. "If the controller is different and innovative; fine. But I would say that Xbox Live is the bigger innovation. It depends on your definition of innovative. If having a DVD style controller defines innovation; great. I would argue that talking millions of gamers and connecting them with friends and strangers around the world... I'd call that pretty innovative."
Obviously my definition of 'innovative' is different from Peter Moores.
Possibly because I understand the fucking concept of innovation.

So I guess the E3 propaganda machine just kicked off in earnest, I can't wait to see the other lies and half-truths that are going to get spewed out in the next fortnight from the 'usual suspects'.

Because I enjoy being spoken down to like a cretin.

For God's sake Peter Moore, that's not called innovation, that's called using the internet.

Besides, PC games have been doing that long before Xbox was even a concept.

Haha, what happened to Peter Moore? He was smarter back in his Sega days.

That is a joke. I like Live a lot, but in no way is it innovative. It's just well executed.

Microsoft has clearly been having a few brain-storming sessions. It turns out the term 'online gaming' is passe and vulgar. "I won't call it online gaming any more," says Moore, almost convincing me that the idea just came into his head. "It makes it seem like a hardcore pastime. I'm going to start calling it connected gaming from right now. Online gaming still has this feeling of MMOs and RPGs. It was linked to the PC and I think that is off-putting for a lot of people and quite frankly seems kinds geeky."

He looks like a General in one of those middle-eastish countries.

I don't see where he gets Xbox live is innovative. In fact Sega and Snes has a crappy super overpriced service that offered that YEARS ago, and of course the obvious on PC.

Well, that's a pretty good sentence. It manages to pack so many utter lies into such a small space. Very impressive.
We want to bring the price down so we can drive mass market adoption.
If they're actually after real mass-market adoption, then they've failed right out of the gates. They seem to be just going after the hardcore gamers market, and praying that some normal people might be dragged along with them. That won't work any more than targetting Americans and hoping that Japanese gamers would follow did for the Xbox.
If having a DVD style controller defines innovation; great.
Well, that means that he either doesn't get it, or he's deliberately trying to downplay it. It's not a DVD remote, or even anything like one other than the shape, and I'm sure he's well aware of that. While he obviously can't promote his competitors products, it comes off as very immature to actually poke fun at them, and act all superior when in reality those competitors are kicking your ass (Nintendo in financial terms, Sony in everything else).

That's because that is a general from on of those middle-eastish countries. That looks like the last Iraqi Information Minister to me.

It is. It was my idea of a joke.

A cultural icon for denying the truth at press conferences.

if peter nort...erm peter moore were honest..and not a microsoft shill now..he would have told the truth.that the dreamcast and sega saturn were the true innovations when it comes to the subject matter he is speaking of...not microsoft's xbox live...anyone remember seganet by chance?...it worked just as well as xbox live and mainly through a dialup connection....and again..if he were honest..he would state that nintendo's controllers are in fact an innovation...and that his current employer...MS...their controllers for both xbox/xbox 360 are nothing more than rip-off clones of sega saturn/dc controllers....

Yeah, that shit bugs me too. Microsoft came out with the whole "no pc ports" stance on Xbox and slowly but surely, PC ports sparted pouring in. Then they announce XNA, which makes it easier to put PC games on 360 and vice-versa. What the fuck is that, Microsoft? If I wanted to play PC games, I'd play them on my fucking PC. DOUCHBAGS.

Yeah uhh... internet? You guys didn't invent that, buddies. If I recall the Dreamcast and PC were doing that how long before you? The PS2 is online. Maybe you have a bigger online userbase, but how the hell would that be innovative?

and--oh yes, those damned PC ports... I think I'd rather own them on PC.

Half of the new 360 games look like current-gen games that have been bumpmapped to all hell.

The sad thing is, about 3/4ths of the launch games don't "look like" current-gen games with cheap effects tacked on, they are current-get games with cheap effects tacked on.

I don't think Xbox Live is innovative, it's just really well executed. You could say it was an evolution of online gaming at the most.

But really now, he's just hyping for E3 and spinning PR bullcrap.
