Who is watching the new mario videos?

Post by JuddWack »

I'm pretty unimpressed with what I have seen so far. Just seems like a beefed up Mario World rather than a new game. What are your impressions?

Which mario we talking about, the new one on the DS, or the one planned for the Wii (if any videos are even available for it)?

Yes I'm talking about the DS mario.

I was expecting a reinvention of the series, like mario games have done consistantly in the past. The videos show the touch screen is a wasted opportunity.

And the link

One new video a week.

Looks neat to me. I don't know about reinvention of the series, I didn't care much for jumping from tiny rotating block to tiny rotating block in "Secret Levels" nor did I care much for cleaning stuff with a water pack.

It looks like they intigrated a lot of stuff from SM64 into this game (wall kicks, ground pounds, etc) which should be awesome.

It looks a lot like the Super Bowser Bros 'levels' in Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year Door.

Which were fun as hell.

looks fun as hell. Anyone else get a kick out of the fact they put the underground levels on the bottom screen?

Im glad they dont "MAKE" you use the touch screen. Just because it is there, you shouldnt have to actually use the stylus on it. I like using it as a map, status screen, and stuff like that. If it helps gameplay, cool. If it could be just as good without using the stylus, please dont make me.

This game looks really fun, and not a lot of games look fun anymore.

I'm really anticipating this release.

As everyone has said, it looks like an awesome return to its roots. I'm so glad they are keeping the side-scrolling genre alive.

Glad to see Nintendo being the only innovative developer left. Im tired of old franchises, constant sequels, and gameplay that hasnt changed for about 2 decades. Finally we have something new and innovative. You rock Nintendo.

Hush you.

Anyways, in an interview in Nintendo power mag, the game is supposed to feel like the original super mario bros. I guess the whole reason for this design is that since the DS is the 1st game system for many people (older adults/expanding market strategy) Nintendo wants to give them the same feeling they gave us back in the NES era.

Princess Peach was a surprisingly meaty game. I'll definately pick this game up too.

No doubt, I do think this game looks fun. But I wish it wasn't so similar to Super Mario World. I would like to see them develope on the graphical styles and gameplay of Super Mario 2. As it was said before Super Mario World seemed liked an enhanced mario 3, and this seems like an enhanced Super Mario World.
