Scenedicate #01 Download !

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

DCS wrote:scenedicate is the worldwide first Dreamcast diskmag, which will be released by Dreamcast-Scene in the first week of December 2005. The project exists since 2003 under the former name Dreamcast Demo Disc. Beside articles about the topics lifestyle, videogames, Dreamcast, demoscene (priorty consoles and handhelds) and artworks (analog and digital) there will be also playable programs right on the CD.

No, this is a separte project. But it would be nice to see the 2 combine so that DCS and Meta work on future mags and demo discs if their will be a future.

Hm, honestly I think we got the perfect setting right now. DCEvo has its unique future, so has the Sandman (Meta's DreamOn disc focussed on DC games) & DCS' Scenedicate (featuring the demo scene & more). All got their unique style and a bright looking future.

I can't agree more.

All three projects have different styles and an own target audience, which are still interested in every of those prods and don't hide from each other.

And again: scenedicate is not a pure compilation of Dreamcast homebrewn programms. It was when this project had the name "Dreamcast Demo Disc", but we changed it due Meta's efforts in the DreamOn CD. We took the idea of Diskmags a bit further and also released applications on it, but that's not the priority.

Diskmags are very popular in the demoscene. This is a very... well... let's say "European" computer sub scene, since most demosceners come from Finland, Sweden, Germany, Norway, Austria, Hungary, UK, Poland and Spain. There's only one demoparty in North America and most people in Asia even don't know about it's existance.

Dreamcast-Scene supported the demoscene and demogroups (e.g. sponsoring of Breakpoint, world's largest demoparty) and made releases happen. So we decided to go for a Diskmag. And it's even the first one on the Swirl machine!

For more info about the demoscene, check our FAQ on http://scenedicate.dreamcast-scene.com or http://www.demoscene.info or http://www.pouet.net

It's out. Officially.
GEE issue 12-05 including scenedicate released

As annouced, the world's first Dreamcast Diskmag? scenedicate (by DCS) is out with the December release of the German videogame magazine GEE? (Games_Entertainment_Education).

Beside of the CDI file of scenedicate and BootDreams? 0.6 on the DVD-ROM part, there is also an article within the print part of the magazine.

The internet download will be available in 1 to 2 weeks, since we want to use the time for a little bugfix and maybe add one or another exclusive article.

I just downloaded it.

I played with it for over two hours--none of which I dedicated to studying for my AP exam which is tomorrow! If I fail the $82 exam, it's your fault, DC-S!

Kidding.

I really liked it. That was the first time I had ever seen ScummVM or DCPlaya, both of which are very amazing. It was very nicely done. I like the music too, I browsed the CD with DCPlaya and just listened to the tracks.

edit: By the way, when I downloaded the first link, the file ended up being corrupt. I thought it was just me, but when Tvspelsfreak downloaded it, he had the same problem. The second link seems to work fine, but I'm pretty sure something is up with the first .zip there.

The first link is now dead, the zip file was corrupt and has been deleted, we're putting together a page for a permanent download at DC Evolution at the moment with a working zip archive of the disc image, a working link will be ready soon.

Are you sure it was the archive Chris linked to in a post above?, that archive was 60+MB when it should have been 75MB (I'm sure Chris lost his FTP connection when uploading it).
