Games you'd like to see become movies
So far i've been pretty unimpressed with the adaptions from game to film and I was just wondering what you thought would work well.
Personally, I think The Secret of Monkey Island would be a great dark comedy. I see Tim Burton directing this.

The original story of Final Fantasy VII would make a pretty decent Lord Of The Rings style triple-movie twelve-hour epic, with a similar combination of live action and CGI.
Headhunter might make a decent action movie, I suppose. Deus Ex had quite a movie-ish feel to it, too.
About a year ago I stumbled across the original script for a Resident Evil movie adaptation written by George Romero, which was infinitely better, even in plain text, than the movie that ended up being made.

Madden 2001
Tetris
Seaman
Sim City 4
Civilization II
Virtua Tennis
Pong
Ok, really.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Halo
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy VIII
Lunar: Silver Star Story
Metal Gear Solid
Also, I think Golden Sun could make a potentially badass family movie.

I'd like to see a good adaptation of Mortal Kombat 1.
The Doom movie wasn't bad, but it feels as if it isn't finished because there are a good number of elements missing, and they shouldn't have put the last fight after the FPS sequence, because the FPS sequence is the climax of the movie.
By the way, Road Rash could be turned into a very good movie.

Shenmue.
FF7
FF8
Star Ocean.
Shadow Hearts 1,2 & 3.
Metal Gear Solid.
Zelda OOT.
Splinter Cell.
Project Zero/Fatel Frame.
Onimusia <--Spelling?.
Devil May Cry <--Maybe this would work better as an anime?.
I think all them have a good enough story/theme to be made into a film, and if done right each of them could be great.

Yea it would take 3 long movies to tell the story of Final Fantasy 7, but it would make a excellent movie. I agree with you on that. I think it should either be 100% CGI or 100% actors though, I don't thinking mixing the two would look right.az_bont wrote:The original story of Final Fantasy VII would make a pretty decent Lord Of The Rings style triple-movie twelve-hour epic, with a similar combination of live action and CGI.

Problem with most of these video game to movie deals is the movie is usualyl completey different then the game. I personally thought the Resident Evil movies was decent, but I still wouldn't say they was great. I found RE1 reminded me too much of the Alien movies.
OF course the original Final Fantasy movie once again had nothign to do with any of the games other then a charactor with the name Cid. I won't even go into the details of the Mario movie where Yoshi was a wild dinosaur, Bowser was a human like creature, and the princess was a young hot women without a dress who hatched from a egg.
The Silent Hill movie looks like it might be decent. Just out of curiousity where was Silent Hill in the games? I played a little bit of Silent Hill 2, but I just couldn't get into it. I thought Silent Hill was in a town near the ocean or something?

None..for the most part, and with a few excpetions, they are never as good.
the super mario bros movie was considered to be one of the worst, but personally, it wasn't that bad and I was kinda hoping for a sequel. I also thought that the guy playing mario in the movie (his name slips my mind right now) did an exceptional job. Leguizano, on the other hand, didn't.
