Stuck for reasons to hate the United States of America?
You're in luck! Someone has kindly compiled a list of the best reasons, to answer the question: "Why is the USA so frequently the victim of resentment around the world".
I'll give you a hint. It's nothing to do with hating your freedom.
Of particular interest is the list of UN resolutions vetoed by the US - a grand total of 70, which is more than the other four permenant members of the UN Security Council (UK, France, Russia and China) combined. What is even more shocking is the number of times it has used it's veto power when it was the only country opposed to the resolution in the entire UN, out of more than 100 nations.
It was the only country to vote against a ban on chemical and bacteriological weapons. It was also the only country to oppose a ban on development of new types of weapons of mass destruction. It was one of only 3 countries to oppose a Middle Eastern peace conference.
It was the only country to oppose the classification of education, work, health care, proper nourishment, national development as human rights. It was the only country to oppose the right of every state to choose its economic and social system in accord with the will of its people, without outside interference in whatever form it takes.
It was the only country to oppose: the elimination of racial discrimination; the suppression and punishment of apartheid; promoting international action against apartheid; the condemnation of apartheid in sports; and four other resolutions against apartheid in South Africa.
(I apologise if the above sounds like some sort of attack or flame, because it isn't intended to be)

At the very least, I'd say it's relevant to current events.

A post with a controversial title that discusses a serious story. Not all too uncommon around these parts, I believeRoofus wrote:What's it intended to be?

1. Draft a resolution about something completely ludacris that is obviously not in the best interest of the USA - something that you know it will reject/veto.
2. Add an amendment to resolution that has nothing to do with the above, such as: The elimination of racial discrimination; the suppression and punishment of apartheid; promoting international action against apartheid; the condemnation of apartheid in sports; and four other resolutions against apartheid in South Africa
3. Wait for USA to veto resolution.
4. Criticise USA for vetoing a resolution that denounced racial descrimination, etc.
Global politics.

Well then it works just like our senate. Add some crazy 'rider' to a bill, then the other party votes no on the bill and call them 'haters'. ![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)

How to be a Conservative:
You have to believe everything that has ever gone wrong in the history of your country was due to Liberals.

The word you're looking for is "ludicrous." I'm seeing that glaring mistake more and more lately.

Back to your post, the single underlying reason that the U.S. is disliked is because it acts in its best interest all the time and nobody else's. We are a very selfish nationalist country.

All nations do. The only reason the U.S. gets the flak is because no other nation can do a damned thing about, and the U.S.'s interests are broad and globally influenced.
