Constructing a special DC disc
When you put Sega-made DC discs in a computer, there is a audio CD track. Is there a way for a homebrewer to mess with the tracks to get a homemade disc to do the same?
The members of srk changed the tracks in MVC2
So there has to be a way, right?
Here's the thread with instructions. You should be able to do it to any game (and boy did the tracks on that game need to go!) :

If you use the CD record burning method rather than creating a Discjuggler image with bin2boot, you can burn the first audio aswhatever you want. Instead of burning the default AUDIO.RAW file that comes with all the selfboot toolkits (which is four seconds of silence) to the disc's first session, just burn any audio file you want. Also, burning the longest audio track you can fit onto the disc as the first session (keeping in mind that you'll need to leave enough space for the game data as the second session) works like a dummy file so that the game data the Dreamcast has to read is on the outer edge of the disc rather than inside, which is supposed to save wear and tear on your GD drive.

It's actually very simple.pixel wrote:Well yeah, but I'd like to put my own audio track in there.
IIRC, there is a tutorial about it somewhere on DCEmulation still. The tutorial originated from WAREZ, but it includes some good instructions on how to create your own selfbooting discs manually.
You probably don't realize it, but Selfboot, Selfboot Inducer, and BootDreams (when creating an audio/data disc) all put an audio track onto your DC discs, but they all use very short, silent audio files when doing so.
I was planning on keeping this a secret until we had been able to release an image utilising this little-known information over at DC Evolution, but we've been sitting on it for quite a while, and still haven't been able to find a good use for it, so I'll let it out of the bag. It is very much possible to burn any audio track ahead of your game data, and still use it as a selfbooting disc.

Damn. That was the real secret I was sitting on for DC Evo.MetaFox wrote:It is. Inhabitants, Maqiupai, and Cool Herders have the entire game soundtrack in the tracks before the data.pixel wrote:It's not possible to have more than one audio CD track?

I used it in the old Titanium QuakeDC with Fragger's Joymenu addon.
My own music tracks burned with CDRwin or cdrecord (even Nero) plus the data track.
Also, bin2boot can do the same. Use a cue instead the iso. But i dunno how this cue is done.
Maybe a normal 1st track DATA MODE1/2048 followed by some AUDIO tracks with waves.
bin2boot file.cue /nohack and TA-DAH! A fresh selfbooting CDI with CDDA tracks!
But i'm not sure if it's like so. Infact, i can do everything, but i'd never tried to boot it in a DC.
Curt: Hope i didn't spoiled you
BTW a compilation with some freeware game musics would be cool, "Alice Dreams plus Alice soundtrack" kind of thing.
