I might get this graphics card soon. Its a nvidia geforce fx 5500 i believe. its a pci card and i have a dell 3000 thats upgraded liek hell. But my main question isd will it work with my pc? I'm not sure if i requires a pci express slot or just a normal pci card slot. any help?
no, all the new games need shader performance and the FXs series cards were generally terrible at it (some around here have called them Nvidias biggest mistake)
use the forum search to look for graphic card topics (there was a good one just recently) and you'll pick up loads of recommendations.
That card is horrible but it might play some games on lower settings,
but its probably gonna be hard to find a decent card that will work on the pci bus youll also want to get as much memory as possible if your are stuck getting a pci card

ive been happy with my 5900 since it came out , but i am upgrading as soon as possible
5900 is at the top end of the series and i did say 'generally', i've got a ASUS 5700 which is in the 'second batch' of FXs (with the improved shader engine) but i'm going up to a 6800 in the january sales hopefully, should make a big diffrence to my 3000+ SoA Sempron (plus the price is nice just now too)
And from what I understand from you guys I'm basically stuck with this card as being the best one I can get that is right with with my computer. I'm staying away from ATI cards because I might make this computer a linux box and the drivers are lacking with linux.
