NinCast64 (N64 emu)

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

It uses MMU, and a ASM x86 port to SH4 of MIPS R4300i 64-bit RISC (93.75MHz) , and RCP (Reality CoProcessor 62.5MHz).

It runs at 12 without sound. For now can only handle a maximun of 32MB Roms.

Amazing!

The pictures were created with photoshop though, which leads me to suspect that it is possible this is something that isn't really working yet, but that is being worked on.

What about NEO4ALL AES? Would Chui and Fox post such a big FAKE? Well i dont think so, and i hope im not wrong.

Anyway here's a translation of the news from dciberia:

We've decided to post a bit of news before Christmas, we already have the N64 working on Dreamcast, using all of Chui's work and discoveries with the MMU, and porting the mips r4300i and RCP cores from x86 to SH4.

So far, Nincast64 runs N64 roms of 32Mb maximum and at 12FPS withut soun, which makes it quite playable. Anyway it still runs pretty forced and only a few carts are compatible. We will keep posting screenshots and i hope we can publish a preview release before the year ends.

Edit: afaik, Mario 64 is 8 megabytes big.

Why being so sceptical about this?
It's not like they're saying "We will bring you perfect fullspeed N64 emulation"...

I think they meant that this runs at 12FPS at maximum. By the looks of the screenshots of Mario 64 it runs at an average of 7FPS, which I believe to be far from playable speeds. Not to downplay this or anything, this is still quite an achievement! Just I hope any newcomers don't expect perfect N64 emulation from this.
