My mother destroyed my comp, selling the working parts.
2 years after she replaces hard drives and the vidcard after throwing my comp at a wall, she wastes a good computer by throwing it at the floor twice, and kicking it. both HD's are dead. Both of them were 120GB WD's. The case is in about 6 pieces, and is mangled. Thus, I'm going to invoke my little "you break it, you buy it" policy.
In other news, I have various WORKING parts for sale. I have tested them, and ALL are working flawlessly. I have never overclocked anything. (crappy dell BIOS)
1 Dell Dimension 8100 Power Supply
1 Dell Dimension 8100 Motherboard with 1.4GHz Pentium 4 processor (Socket 423) and heatsink
2 Simpletech 256MB RDRAM modules with heatspreaders
2 (can't remember the manufacturer) 64MB RDRAM modules, also with heatspreaders
MAYBE selling ATi Radeon 9200 128MB

I'm interested in the motherboard, cpu, and RAM provided that either:
A) The motherboard doesn't require the use of dell's stupid special proprietary power switch that resembles a ribbon cable
B) If it does use it, the power switch can be salvaged
And also probably the power supply if you can give me a power rating.

In this situation, I'd say Smiley is in the wrong. Infact, if I were here I'd probably do the same (or close to. maybe take it away for a few months or something).Egotistical EvilN wrote:Especially one that would destroy your machine because "you were on it too much".mikozero wrote:not every mother is a saint.
Why the hell would you flip your mother off just for asking you to get off the computer?

One could argue that the computer was in fact the property of the mother to start with (assuming Smurph didn't buy it himself).Tall Israeli wrote:Agreed, but his mom is a friggin wackjob. But normal people dont do that. If your son is being a bit annoying you dont just start throwing expensive electronics at the floor and kicking stuff. Thats sign of a serious anger management problem.Butters wrote:One could argue that the computer was in fact the property of the mother to start with (assuming Smurph didn't buy it himself).Tall Israeli wrote:Agreed, but his mom is a friggin wackjob. giving someone the birdie is not respecting them. I know you must think that everyone loves you but sometime soon you're going to have to admit that everyone really just hates you.Egotistical EvilN wrote:She didn't respect him. Yeah, I know man. My friends mom once went crazy and flushed a ton of expensive Dilaudid down the toilet and broke all my buddy's rigs.
[now before anyone goes off on me, I'm just trying to get you to understand why a mother might do this. Something she doesn't understand is distancing her from her child, much like drug addiction.]
Where's toastman? I'm bored.

If she really does buy you a new one, buy a PC that's built right, or at least better than Dell.
The build quality on the new Emachines is suprisingly good, and you can get an Athlon 64 3500+, 200GB HD, a gig of ram, a dual layer DVD burner, and Media Center 2005 for around $600.
That's right, new eMachines are built better than new Dells in the same price range. Let the flamewar begin.
EDIT: And 99% of RDRAM has heatspreaders.
