Trying to animate
Hey, everyone. I've been looking for a good animation program. I have something that works already, sort of, but I have to draw EVERY frame over and over again. Its called Ulead Video Studio, and it's meant to have image support for a slideshow or something, but if you arrange everything properly you can kinda get some animation. I've been wanting to learn how to use flash, but for one, I don't know of a proper program for beginners, and two, yeah, I've never used flash before. All I know is, when I go to places like Newgrounds I get so frustrated, because I can draw fairly well, but that's all. I don't want to make comics anymore. I'd really like to start making actual films. Please, someone help me out. Any recommendations?
Spreading his inquiries all over the net!

if you just want simple, try adobe livemotion. you can draw with standard shapes or import pictures and you can move them around and keyframe movements and things like that. i also seem to recall it being able to export to a flash file.
...it's not the greatest program in the world, but maybe it'd be good for a start

I think flash is a good place to start and handles animation pretty well. The place where I used to work did some short animations in flash and we learnt what we could as we went along.
It does have its limitations though, being vector based which makes it hard to do soft edges and blurring type effects and we had quite a few problems with things not quite behaving as we though they might. I'd say it also has quite a learning curve (I'm only learning myself). On the plus side it's pretty versatile with some people doing amazing stuff with it from designing whole interative sites through to simple games. A great example of cool games with a wonderful style is:

Some other cool flash sites:

And some irreverent stuff, perhaps not for any youngsters out there
