My favorite episode is Ballad of a Fallen Angel (15?) the one with the church fight. The music is amazing there.
...yeah, ok. He lived happily ever after.

He had been shot up and stabbed before on multiple occasions, especially in the episode i mentioned. He ends up in a full body cast. The series ends directly after that so who's to say?

I just bought the movie this week (one of my $5 pawn shop buys). I've never watched it, or the show. So I guess I'll see.

I bought the movie a year ago and still haven't gotten around to watching it. Of course, the number of movies I haven't watch that I have bought takes up about half of my DVD shelf.

My only spoiler is that you shouldn't watch the last 3 episodes of that series. The series is great, but what happens in the last 3 episodes pretty much ruined the series for me. All I will say is that if you plan to finish the series, plan to start tracking down the manga.
I stand by the fact that he doesn't die.

My favorite episode is Ballad of a Fallen Angel (15?) the one with the church fight. The music is amazing there.
Funny how these two posts make me even more interested in the series, especially since for some reason now I've got the hope of the info given by neoak not being tru :D

And Freeze, it didn't draw me in like Berserk was able to, but I think it had more to do with the strange setting and me being totally unfamiliar with the series, than with the series themselves. Also the commercials sucked, having to wacht 7 Jamba ringtone commercials after 5 minutes of the show

I've already put a reminder in my cellphone so that it will warn me about the being on tv next week. Otherwise I'm sure I'll forget it. I hardly watch tv in the first place :p

Coming from someone who is not a big anime fan I say you MUST watch it. I stumbled upon Cowboy Bebop when Cartoon Network aired the 1st episode and was hooked right away.

I was refering to Beserk in my quote, not Cowboy Bebop. I meant you shouldn't watch the last three episodes of Beserk. They suck.

Aaah alright, well I'm going to watch them anyway, because I want to experience the whole series. I want to know what happens before the DC game, and also what happens after it :)

I would like to think that Spike is dead at the end. It becomes a better ending with his death. Throughout the entrie series, Spike is hiding from his past and personal demons. When he finally confronts them and corrects the mistakes in his life, he is perfectly at peace in the world. Kind of like the ending of Gungrave.

Ballad of Fallen Angels, Jupiter Jazz parts 1 & 2 and The Real Folk Blues parts 1 & 2 are the best episodes.

I love Bebop. That, and Eva are the only animes to earn a spot in my wardrobe. Amazing. Good dubs, but I'll always watch the subs instead.

I don't know what's going on, but according to every source it should be on by now, yet no cowboy bebop :(

I really don't hope they've given up on it already. I found a link to some viewer statistics, and to me it seems it isn't very popular. The games program which is on before Cowboy Bebop got 35,000 viewers last week, while CB only got 6,000 ...
I'm really disappointed with this, perhaps Freeze has got some kind of explanation for it.

I guess anime is only meant for a small elite group in our country, the average dutch kiddo prefers shallow American stuff

Bumping the thread...

I just finished watching the series last night. All I can say is that it's truly a work of art. Aside from some of the villans he fights, this anime feels more human and real than any other anime I've seen before. I really started to care for the characters and was able to empathize with their emotions.

At first, after you've watched the first few eps, you're happy with the anime because, yeah, Spike is cool and he kicks ass. Pefectly good reason. But then Faye comes in. I found her character just as or more interesting that Spike.

Also, the many of the stories with their bounties are great too and amazingly stand-alone.

I need to watch it again some time soon and see if I can analyze it a bit more from a philosophical standpoint.

Those who liked it might also want to check out Samurai Champloo, which is made by the same people and has a somewhat similar style. For some reason, I haven't finished Champloo, but I watched up til 19.

BTW, there are no good arguments against the ending of Bebop.

I loved the ending. Everybody seems to want a happy ending to everything. How could Cowboy Bebop end happily? So much throughout the series is depressing. Every character has lost something important to them. A happy ending wouldn't have fit.

Gungrave. From the makers of Trigun. Watch it if you liked Cowboy Bebop. That's some serious anime.

I haven't watched GunGrave, but from playing the games, it's definitely got a fantastic spaghetti western style - the coffin full of guns, cowboy hat, etc.

I saw one episode and wasn't impressed at all. Didn't know it was from the people who did Trigun, that might make me have a second go at it (Trigun being my favorite anime)..

The anime has less of that stuff. It's basically the backstory leading up to the game and a retelling of the events in the story.
The only real problem is that you have to watch it from the beginning or else you are just going to be going WTF. It's a story of betrayal and friendship.
