What game do you want to see emulated with MAME on DC?

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

What game do you want to see emulated with MAME on DC?

Post by HyperG »

Please be specific.

- Give me a rom name that is compatible with MAME .37 beta 16 .
- The filename of the rom.
- If the game is compatible with MAMED, but you want to see if it is any faster on this emulator, please say so as well.
- And the rom must be at least less then about 14 megs or so, extracted. If the rom is big, it won't be considered for testing.

DreamInducer would be nice to use for single game MAME compiles heh ;) ( Great work DCGrendel ).

If you can't figure out the commands to DC-Tool, forget coding.
If you think coding is as easy as typing printf("Hello World\n"); , shoot yourself.

The three games I'd like to see are:

Bubble Bobble: bublbobl
Contra: contra
and
Snow Bros: snowbros

I know they all got ported to the nes but it's just not the same...

You had this coming, Hyper... :)

All right... let the requests begin with the squeaky wheel!

Gyruss (gyruss): I figure, with the code for the frameskip, you could make this more than playable and it will be faster than it was when I tested it.

Rush N Attack/Green Beret (gberet): Oh yes, my precious... we very much like this wonderful gem. Stabbing random fools with knives and blowing them away with rocket launchers and flamethrowers is my idea of a good time.

GUNSMOKE(gunsmoke): Could I possibly leave this out? Heck no! With the testing I did on Ghosts and Goblins that saw this running really well, I don't think I could stand to do without this game. It owns every single one of you, as it always has (yeah, you'll have to customize the buttons a bit each time, but WHO CARES? hehe).

Ghosts and Goblins(gng): Aww-yeah.

Contra/Gryzor(contra): Would YOU leave this out? hahah... that's what I thought.

Frogger(frogger): cause the classics need representation.

Galaga(galaga): see above.

Xevious(xevious): see above.

1942(1942): see above.

Pac-man(pacman): Don't ask, cause you already know why.

Star Wars(starwars): I'm sure this might run on the older MAMED, but I would like to see if its any faster at this juncture.

Centipede(centiped): Classics, again.

Altered Beast(altbeast): WISE FWOM YO GWAVE!

X-Men(xmen): Cause the cartoon show this arcade game was based on had one episode... and it needs representation.

Bust-a-move(pbobble): Good puzzle game. This file was renamed to pbobblen after beta 15 and 16, so if you get this, change the rom name back.

Double Dragon 1 and/or 2 (ddragon, ddragon2): Wouldn't you?

Final Fight (ffight): Cause beating punks is what I like.

Gauntlet 1 and/or 2 (gauntlet, gauntlet2): again... wouldn't you?

Pole Position 1 and/or 2 (polepos, polepos2): Check the romnames on this... and check the version, and good luck.

SmashTV (smashtv): Cause you'd buy that for a dollar.

That's all from my yapper today. :) Whee!!!

Any of the 4 players (X-Men, Simpsons) would be cool.
I second SnowBrothers(Nick and Tom Rule!)

I don't know if any of these work on the mame .036 but the Play Girl ones like those cheeses animated with half naked chicks with games like breakout and galaga type games! I need my poorly animated half naked chicks, hehe!

I'd like to see Final Fight (I used to love that game, and spent most of my money on it!), and any 4 player arcade games (keep my mates happy when they're over).

Oh, and while I think about it, Outrun, Shinobi, Bubble Bobble and if possible any of the older Neo Geo games (early Neo Geo games from around 1990 to 1992 ish).

hey hyper I don't want to undermind what your doing here but I'd hate to see you go to all this work to get certain games working for mame and then have the mame086(or what ever it is) come out and all these games be working on that? Of course I don't know how long until something like that is released I know its being worked on. Any how keep up the good work!

It'll probably be not so much better once thats ported over, and I don't expect many games from it that are new to run on DC very well, OR at all.

If you get the TMNT game down right, how about trying to work on the on the other Konami 4 player quarter munchers that ran on similar hardware like Sunset Riders, The Simpsons, TMNT2: Turtles in Time. I'm pretty sure those were suggested already. If I remember correctly, those games were supported on that version of MAME and those game roms were small sizes as well.

I can't wait to try the TMNT on mame DC. I remember how TMNT would get pretty crowded on 4 players. Ahh the memories... :P

Well sad to let you know this, Simpsons doesn't load up. It keeps on running out of memory. It loads the whole rom into memory and poof, no memory. Even if I don't load up sound roms. I don't know what the problem is. Probably because the rom takes up double the space when you load up the rom, blame how it loads graphics is all i can :-/ . Hopefully something can be done, its not much more then TMNT ! :-( .

1941: Counter Attack !!!

Post by Cygnus »

Remember the great Capcom 194X series of shooters?

Sisei had pics of 1941: Counter Attack on his site.

This one doesn't run on MAMED 37b15. :(

Would be really *GREAT* !!! :D

Also 1943 with full speed while sound enabled.

Keep up the good work, HyperG !!

Thanks !

Was WrestleFest supported in this release of MAME? If so I would love to see this running with four players on the Dreamcast :) (I think the rom's name was either wwfest, wfest or wrestlef - I'll confirm it later, as I'm on a machine at college at the moment.)
