You know the wires that connect to your motherboard, the ones like HDD LED, Reset, Keylock and so on? Those gauge of wire are just right. Anything smaller and soldering becomes a a pain in the ass. There is plenty of room inside of the modem to solder.

Anyone know if this works with the BBA?

Should work with the BBA, as the pinout is the same on the DC side.

Don't take my word for it, a BBA is a lot to waste.

I would do a bba mod just to see if it worked, but 100 USD is a lot to burn in 3 minutes.

I did, but ended with a borg modem.

I plug it in, the DC doesnt turn on. I take it out, and for 3 minutes the DC wont turn on. After that time it will.

I had a spare extention thing for my PC PSU and I thought I'd go ahead a cut those wires up so I could use them. They were a bit big, and it was really hard to get them soldered on the pins. I need to buy some thinner wire.

if you have an old controller (from pretty much any console/pc/ whatever) just get the wire from the controller. split the outer casing of the wire and get the smaller wires from inside. that's what i did for a lot of my wire. get a broken controller from a garage sale or from a friend. any where you can find em. spare parts are good to have around.

Thanks dcmodder, I cut up a controller and it worked great. My second mod complete, I think the main LED is next (notice how it's not lit up in the picture).

EDIT: After trying to replace the main LED on 2 different controller ports, I still can't get them working. I don't know what the problem is.

Looks good. Yours shows the same problem as mine. The crack of light on the left side (this picture) of the jack. Ive been thinking of filling mine in, ive used drywall putty and pain before. Worked great and was easy to remove and re-apply when needed.

Whats hooked up in your serial port there?

Yeah, I thought about covering it up somehow - I think it's because the LED is in the way. I'm not really sure. The only thing I has was wood glue to glue it in place. I need to buy a hot glue gun.

The thing in my serial port is a coders cable that never gets used.

BTW dcmodder, the image you created is good, but you have the positive and negative switched. I thought it was just me, but then royhubbus did the mod too and he had to flip the LED. So for those that would like to do this mod here's a diagram for the pins:

It's like that at DevCast as well. I'm working on a new tutorial.
