The MAME Thread

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

The MAME Thread

Well I just ran the MAME emu on a CDR, the darn thing didn't work as it was looking just for ONE game called xevious. Here is what happens when I upload it on my Dreamcast with the serial cable.

It states way more , as it can not seem to find the files, I'll test this out and possibly make some builds , of course i'm going to have to figure out how to get this all working hehe.

Now if only it had a GUI like MAMED. Anybody able to hack one together ? Heh.

Well I found my rom cd, and it had xevious.zip on it. Game loaded up and everything. If you want to at least test the emu on CDR, you could place the zip file of the rom xevious in the folder called /roms/ , and do whatever else you have to do to burn it.

At least i know it works heh. It runs, okay. Going to test out other games now.

Just realized that I compiled the small version which only runs xevious. So right now i'm compiling with the MAME option instead of TINY. Neogeo and the MESS is optional but right now i'm just going to stick with trying MAME. I'll post my findings later.

Dcsteve, its not called MAMED , its called Unofficial MAME, which isn't based on MAMED it seems. If it was, where is the GUI!? Hopefully the new source has it.

I'm pretty sure I saw screenshots of a few CPS games running, and i think neo geo. However I'm not quite sure.

I might go on with trying to compile the final source today and see what it does this time, first I need to update my KOS cvs, maybe that might help.

Yesterday while compiling, it would keep on messing up on most drivers when I compiled with the target option of MAME. So i kept on commenting out some drivers and see if that work. When I did that, it skip the rest of the games for that hardware set.

I'll see what I can do about compiling this, see if i can make paks or something for other games. Just need to clear some space on my hard drive.
