If you're into warez, then sorta.
If you wanna pay, then sorta.
If you're into neither, then I don't think so.
GiriGiri is a legit emu for sale, iirc. There's a hacked version of GiriGiri getting around that plays them somewhat decent, so I've heard. But can't give you much more info due to the legailty and that I don't know a whole lot about it.
Apparently satourne has progress and Yabause (or whatever it is lol) is progressing too.

There are four homebrew emulators that I know of that can play things at all:
GiriGiri (pre-sega)
SSF
Saturne
Yabause
The last three are still being worked on. The first one was the homebrew emulator that was bought by sega to be sold. You can still find old versions of it if you look around that are legal (i think? if i'm wrong someone clarify).

Cassini is an illegally distributed version of GiriGiriSaturn (the commercial, Sega-bought) emulator.
And I can tell you, that from a technical standpoint, Cassini will never progress any further.
Its better to keep your eyes pointed towards a legal solution, such as Satourne, Saturnin, SSF, and/or Yabause.

Re: UMM?
Sega themselves have confirmed that its illegal, the thing is I doubt zophars care, hell they rarely cover emu's these days & even if they didnt know it was illegeal at first they do so little emu stuff now that they cant be bothered to remove it most likely. I still recall a huge topic where the hacker/s tried to justify the hack on their boards, they failed big timevicviper74 wrote:if casini is illegal why is zophar hosting it. the download and all. it doesnt make sense.

Sega could stop supporting (although they barely do) us. To my knowledge there are a handful of people at Sega and PowerVR who have helped point people in the right direction with hardware discovery due to the fact that we try to keep 100% legal in discussion and practice.ethan88 wrote:Even if Cassini is illegal, it's right on a moral level, and isn't that what matters? I'm pretty sure nothing bad could happen to any emulator distributors, or this forum for discussion of it. But, meh.
As far as I ever saw, all Sega said was that they no longer owned the copyright to it (they had only copyrighted it up to 2003 apparently) and so they didn't care what anybody did with it.
