Top-loading NES system. Is it real?

Post by jessman »

Yo. I won this NES top-loader with 7 games built in on ebay. Have I been gyped or is it in fact real? I don't mean the white and red NES, but the shiny, futuristic silver one. Check this link out and tell me PLEASE! It SEEMS real enough...

Looks like one of those HK clones. Odds are good it's real.

Why did you bid on something you didn't think was real?

Well, I figure that ebay is trustworthy. It's just...$19.99 for this? Amazing!

HK? What's that? All I know is that it's supposed to work better with NES games. Do you guys buy it? I sure hope it's real...What can I do if it isn't?

(Sorry, but I've never won a bid on ebay before.)

Hong Kong. Nearly every pirated thing comes from Hong Kong or mainland China.

Based on your feedback, looks like you have a system for dealing with guys who sell things that aren't real.

Those controllers are funky-looking; why did they add two additional buttons to it?

edit: sorry, that was a dumb question.....

Most likely they're turbo buttons.

I don't know. It just seems...unrealistic. I mean, it DOES play US nes games PROPERLY, right? I bid on it because my current NES is SOOO awful that I HAVE to get another one. I don't don't know what to do if I end up getting screwed. Sorry. I'm just paranoid, lol.

There's no Nintendo emblem anywhere on the system, controllers, nor the AC adapter. 99.9% chance it's fake.

If you don't trust it then why did you bid on it? Caveat emptor.
jessman wrote:I mean, it DOES play US nes games PROPERLY, right?
I have no idea. I don't have one. Probably.
jessman wrote:I bid on it because my current NES is SOOO awful that I HAVE to get another one.
That's fine. Why didn't you get a real NES if you're so concerned about it?
jessman wrote:I don't don't know what to do if I end up getting screwed.
Not much, since these NES clones are illegal.
jessman wrote:Sorry. I'm just paranoid, lol.
Indeed. Next time resolve these personal issues BEFORE bidding.

I think it's one of those NES clones that are everywhere.

Exactly, regular nes would have prolly been cheaper, and they more than likely wouldn't be like this guy who is charging $10 for shipping!!!

I've also noticed that this seller doesn't allow returns if it is defective or ends up not being what you expected.

Well, it SAID that I can return it within 7 days if it's defective. At least, I thought I saw it. I don't really care if the system was authorized by nintendo, as long as my games work on it, and it's durable. I'm sorry for posting such a stupid thread, but I figured that someone had seen this before.

I bough a nes clone from estarland.com and it works great and im having a blast playing nes games, so there are clones out there that work great, but i would have gone to estarland instead of buying that, that unit looks a bit fishy.

grrrr......I guess a more appropriate thread would've been "Where can I get a new NES or NES clone?" Darnit. Well, I guess I'll let you all know how it works. $20.00 ain't bad, imo.

You know the videogame industry has reached a sad state when some unofficial clone of an old game system actually looks much better than any of the modern consoles. Hell, it actually LOOKS LIKE A GAME SYSTEM, and the modern systems don't! :?

The famicom clones arent illegal anymore AFAIK, thats why that company that specializes in wireless controllers is making their own NES/famicom and ninty isnt doing anything about it. I dont remember the company name, but the threat here in OT was called "the real nintendo revolution".

I buy famiclones all the time, I guess I could say I collect them. This is a real clone, I have seen them before so dont worry about that. What I would worry about is getting that old feedback rating back in the positive.

I know! Some ass-goblin put a DC controller on ebay and I bought it but he wouldn't respond to my emails requesting shipping info, so I ended up forgetting about the damn thing 'cause he didn't seem to care. 5 months later he ruined my rating and commented that I'm not trust-worthy, lol.

Anyways, where have you seem these before? My main concern is, will it work without the usual NES procedures as long as the cartridge is clean and moderately in good condition? I can't find this clone online ANYWHERE. Is there a site that has more info on it? Thanks, man. At least you think it'll work. I just want to play NES games for a change without huffing and wiggling the damn thing!

P.S. Did you know that putting NES games in the freezer for a half-hour or more helps eliminate stress when it comes to blowing in the game paks? I know it prolly damages the games, but I've done it for years without issues. Either that, or a more safe way is taking a Q-Tip covered in Windex and swabbing the connection area of the cartridges until the cotton comes out clean.

(EDIT: How do I get my rating back up? I was wrongfully stripped down! lol.)

AGH! Sorry for so many posts, but is this system the same thing? Some things seem different and it doesn't have any built in games (by the sound of it)

Why cant you just...buy a normal nes?

Besides, wha does it matter, youve bought that one now, so pay for it and wait it out. Youre just going to end up with crappier feedback if you dont pay for that either.
