Drill, a new shoot em up for your Dreamcast

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

It's not like we needed another shooter but, oh well. The more DC releases, the better.

Shooting games are one of my fav genres, so this is good news for me.
Kinda reminds me of Ikaruga a little bit, but that might just be me......

A very nice looking homebrew!!!!
A couple of questions come to mind:
- will it be free?
- will it be open source?

We need every game possible on the DC, sure we all would love to see Spike-out, HOTD3, Gun Valkyrie, Crazy Taxi 3, Propeller Arena (official release) and all the other games they stole from us, but its not happening at the moment, so shooters are OK too. On the other hand shooters like IKARUGA, BD, Psyvariar, etc. are KICKA$$ and I'm very glad we have them.
We should respect every effort to bring new games to the Dreamcast, that shows that there are still a lot of people loving the DC. Especially indie game devvers that take the time and energy to do it for free (most cases).
And if by any chance we get this release as open source, we'll have another "engine" to keep producing games like we did with BOR.

It looks homebrewed and if it is, it's not too bad! Certainly promising given the development environment forced upon the DC community...which is almost nothing (professionally speaking). I dunno why, but it sort of reminds me of Twinkle Star Sprites...that would be a good one to see on the system even though it's completely weird!

Twinkle Star Sprites is already on the Dreamcast. SNK ported it to the system in 2000, I believe. Plus, the Neo CD version of the game works fine under emulation.

Drill looks way cool to me, too. I love shooters, but my one complaint is that there's not enough inventiveness in terms of the themes and settings they're built around. There used to be up until about 1997 or so and since then it's been all the samey-samey in terms of theme and all the attention has been focused on innovative systems. Why can't we have both? I can't tell what the system is like for Drill (or even if there is one to speak of), but I like the bugs and whatnot a whole lot.

Every new DC game is good. Also, I love shooters so I don't have enything against more of them comming. Variation would certainly be nice as well but as mentioned, anything is better than nothing.

The video wasn't too bad and the only thing I saw that might really need improvement was the explosions. They just seemed a little lack-luster.
