It's a good thing you weren't into the early Xbox scene. You'd always be saying "Come on guys, you can't copy games, Microsoft wouldn't let you!"

Also, playing on a television enables a big thing -- multiplayer. Super Mario Kart 2 player on a computer screen is very hard to play... need a correct emu , the rom, 2 similar USB controllers, and a pretty large monitor... whereas multiplayer on the television and console is much, much easier
I don't really get what argument youre trying to make here. Are you trying to claim that emulation on a console is easier than on the PC? If so, why the hell are you saying "getting the correct emu and rom" is a negative point of PC emulation. Don't you have to do the exact same thing, plus more to get everything up and running on dreamcast or xbox?

Why would you need two *similar* controllers?

I've been tracking the developments with the Revolution and after seeing what MS and Sony have to offer, which is basically nothing more than nicer graphics, I can say with confidence that I will be passing on those two systems and getting the Revolution. How can you go wrong in purchasing it when you are going to get 20 years of Nintendo gaming for free!??!

Let's not forget that most likely the only games that will be available for free download will be Nintendo's own games. Nintendo will probably approach the old third party developers (if they still exist) and ask if they want to participate. But of course they won't if there's no incentive to make money. So don't expect to see the great classic games from companies like Capcom and Konami. At least not for free anyways.

Either way, sound like the Revolution is my next choice.

You'll be going wrong when you pay $200 for a top of the range console so you can play games from 20 years ago. I thought that was obvious.

nintendo can probbaly get them easily from companies that dont exist with very little issues, from companies like acclaim and such, they would still have to pay for the rights but those would be cheap for them to get.

also companies like acclaim will probably charge a small fee or still chose to release them free atleast certain games, then maybe give you access to some free games when you make a purchase of one of their revolution games.

nintendo needs to work with snk 3d0(even though was bad to an extent., atari, activision matel SEGA

and get stuff for the atari systems emulated

all neo geo platforms emulated

sega systems every thing including saturn and dreamcast.(remeber segas original lan to offer downloadable dreamcast gaming after they killed off the dreamcast console? never happene d but it could with the revolution) also all sega arcade platforms. and nec for the turbo grafix systems stuff.

That's all well and good, but we know how Microsoft is about security (*cough* Windows) and we know how Nintendo is about it. Last time I checked, Nintendo's consoles were the hardest to hack into and usually take expensive hardware once they do. I don't see them changing this time around. Maybe after the console has been out a year or two someone will exploit the system and run arbitrary code, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

No there isnt, Famitsu just counted and listed games they expect to be available for Revolution because they are either 1st or 2nd party games. There hasnt been any official announcement from Nintendo regarding this, and Famitsu have no more information that anybody else.

I hope Square/Enix release the old Dragon Warrior games for it. I'd even buy them.

Why would you need two *similar* controllers?
You wouldn't need similar controllers, it's just when there are two different controllers used (say a microsoft sidewinder and some cheapo five dollar controller that barely works), there will always be a favorite... and some people may even go as far as to cite that as a reason they lose.

Sortof like which would you rather have... a Microsoft Controller S controller or a 'Hip Gear' $10 controller from blockbuster...

Idk, maybe its just me...

The biggest problems with that list of proposed games are:

1) It contains games that Nintendo dont have the legal rights to distribute
2) It contains games that dont even exist, because the projects died before they even made it into development
3) Nintendo didnt announce it, meaning its all wrong.

Just at a quick glance I see an Enix game and a Square game in the NES list. I think we need to stop looking at what all of these rumor websites are telling us. From what I can tell Nintendo still hasn't decided their pricing scheme on game downloads. I'm sure it will be something; bandwidth and storage isn't free. I'm still thinking it's going to be buy Revolution game, download a classic version of said game, which would be technically free.
