Mom Hired Strippers for Sons Bday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 29) - A mother faces criminal charges after she hired a stripper to dance at her 16-year-old son's birthday party.

Anette Pharris, 34, has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and involving a minor in obscene acts. The boy's father, the stripper and two others also face charges.

''I tried to do something special for my son,'' Pharris said. ''It didn't harm him.''

About 10 people under the age of 18 were at the birthday party in September, including minors who were not related to the family, authorities said.

Police spokesman Don Aaron said minors are not permitted in adult establishments.

''A person shouldn't be allowed to circumvent that law by hiring a stripper, a lady who took all her clothes off and spent a good amount of time dancing around minors,'' he said.

Anette Pharris took photos at the party and tried to have them developed at a nearby drug store. Drug store employees notified authorities, police said.

''Who are they to tell me what I can and can't show to my own children?'' the mother said.

I'm sure this kid's seen porn before. Either online, on tv, magazines... etc. I don't see what the problem is, especially at 16.

I was thinking about becoming a cop.

I don't handle confrontation very well though, so I don't think I'd be very good at it

I think the article said she only had one son. Even if she had more than one, only one would have been celebrating his birthday that day.

This is shaky ground. But I'd have to say the parent has the right in this case. A kid can get married at 16 with parental consent, so I don't see what the big deal is.

The only thing that makes it bad, is the other kids at the party. If their parents knew and consented, then I say "No Foul".

He could get married, but it would be against the law for him to see his wife naked.

I think the biggest problem with this is the fact his friends parents did not appreciate it. I don't see what the big deal is personally.

This kinda happened to me at a party 2 summers ago. A bunch of us were camping and it was my friends birthday. His mom sent a belly dancer there around the time we were going to eat dinner. She wasn't really a looker so I didn't really hang around to see the show. Also my g/f was with us so I figgured I would miss seeing the belly dancer, and see my gf instead while everyone else was busy.

That is how you turn a negative into a positve people.

I knew a guy in high school whose grandfather got a stripper for him. I can't remember if it was for his 16th or 18th birthday though.

He brought pictures of the event to school.
