That's not true, the vast majority of people who immgrated to Australia were not convicts. There are more than 12 times the number of convicts in jail today in the USA than were sent to Australia by England between 1788 - 1868, most Americans are probably related to someone who has done time.

I've had Optus cable for 5 years, so it's not exactly new to Australia. Not everyone can get it though due to lack of coverage.
