Metal Slug 32X Dreamcast

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Metal Slug 32X Dreamcast

Post by WRAGGSTER »

Today ive adapted Quiest`s Metal Slug Shooter Clone from the GP32 Fenix (http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?sh ... 17931&st=0 ) over to the Dreamcast console. The game itself is a WIP game.

If your joystick doesn`t do the diogonals right, don`t worry, I`m thinking of a solution.
You should not worry about this at all, they didn't really do Diagonal in Metalslug. Just with the heavy machine gun kinda. It was part of what made the game a challenge.

How's the animation? Is everything there? Does it control and play like a Metal Slug game nearly?

For those who're wondering what's up with this demo: you just run through an empty Iraqi village with no enemies (you can shoot, but no jumping or grenade tossing) then you get to the first boss fight screen, but there's no real fight since you can't damage the plane and it can't damage you. However, as a proof of concept, it's really solid feeling, unlike most Fenix games. I hope Quiest is planning on turning it into a full Metal Slug clone, though somehow I doubt it.
