Question about DC game music.

Post by TyBO »

Hi...

I don't know how many of you have heard of .PSF Files, but for those of you who don't, they're sound files ripped directly from a Playstation game that can be played on your computer through Winamp. They are the greatest thing ever because the PSF files are very small, and have lossless sound quality, unlike MP3s. There are entire PSF game soundtracks availible on websites like zophar.net.

What I was wondering is this: is there something similar to this for Dreamcast games? Dreamcast's got a ton of games with excellent soundtracks, so it would be great if something like this exists.

Thanks. :D

We've been over this before, and the only real way to do so without really knowing what you're doing and having some special equipment, is to hook your DC's audio output into your computer, and record the sound into WAV or mp3 files yourself.

Aww... that's a bummer. I wish there was some sort of way to transfer the original sound files onto a hard drive digitally. Oh well, thanks for the info.

Terribly sorry for double-posting, but if you check out this link, it appears that DSF files are a work in progress!... or at least, it was for a little while. The site hasn't been updated in a long time, so I'm not sure Neill Corlet is still working on this. Be sure to email him if you would like to see this project completed soon!

Indeed. He sure is. He's also the one that originally ported BOR to the PS2.
